I guess most of you guys have seen the ads on kijiji about a guy with an arcade museum looking for people to donate games right?
Well I contacted him and tried to get info out of him, especially a phone # and address. I was also especially interested in the tax receipt claims. Anyways after a brief exchange of emails, I basically called him on it, and he freaked out. He threatened me, and more, but then a guy from cgcc said he contacted him , and he was claiming that he was my partner, and I had quit the whole project( Which is BS). In any case, I need some advice because this is a potentially dire situation( in my eyes). I don't know who he is, and what he is capable of, I don't know whether to laugh this off or whether to start wearing a vest.Should I:
Call cops? Pursue a civil suit? Drop it? Send him a cease and desist from my lawyer? Set him up and find out where he lives, so I can meet him face to face; or just crush his windpipe and be done with it, lol.
Also, I dont post ads looking for free games. Although it is true a few guys have gave me games for free, they have all been word of mouth. Unfortunately some of them , I have been unable to pick up because of workload. I buy 99.4% of the games i have, most in bulk deals. |

Use a different email and set up a meeting where you are supposed to be "donating" a machine to him. Might I suggest you bring Damian or at least someone else with you for the meeting. Maybe the other person should be the one who is supposed to be meeting him but knowing something looks fishy, they bring you since they suspect this person is impersonating you. Perhaps a written warning could be presented to him at that time, firm, not hostile.
At least you will be able to identify this person, where they live if you meet there. Don't expect them to use their real name.
Could be another Stephen Anderson type. |

Someone has said it is in fact him
Whoever he is, he is quite an annoying character.
My primal instinct is to do this, but unfortunately I , unlike him, have a lot to lose. My business instincts say to go through the proper channels, cops( Buddies of mine), cease and desist, and so forth.
I feel if I do have a face to face, it will degenerate rapidly, not because of me, but because of him. His tone indicates he fancies himself as some sort of tough guy, and if he were to strike me, or attempt to do so, I would instinctively react which could compromise everything I have worked for .As well as that, if I bring some friends along( and I would), it could compromise them too. I have commitments and responsibilities to meet also. Funny how age mellows a person.....
I could always booby trap a game though and tell the cops " I said as is!" lol |

Caution This post has swearing in it!!!!!!!
Here is a synopsis of the correspondence after I sent him an email basically calling him out, and saying his pitch was BS:
pinballking@rocketmail.com
"" Listen man, i don't know you, and really don't care who you think you are or what you are doing.... im working on my own project, absolutely nothing to do with you.... if you are scared that im taking some machines away from you, too F#@*#@# bad.... FYI i have already had over 20 donated and i have purchased another 15 for cash, oh do you have a problem with that too ? Listen go crawl back under your rock and leave me alone.... or else......f***er ! No wonder u r getting hate mail, because you are an a**hole..... Take your machines and shove them where the sun don't shine, i just hope we cross paths along the way...... jerkoff""
( This is after he told a guy I know, that I abandoned ship on the museum, he was my partner)
# 2 email ""Don't email me again you fruitcake....."
( I think that one was meant for his boyfriend)
#3 email ""Oh yeh one more thing, you don't intimidate me with your lies and threats, i have tons of cash and can turn your lights out at the drop of a hat, so you watch the f*** out ..... cunt !""
( Never lied to him, never threatened him, but he does have a point, you are what you eat)
By the way, no one takes machines away from me,there are plenty for everyone. There is only 1 I cant find out of 13,000, and that is maneater, even though I have located 2 but have been unable to establish contact with the owners of them. |

I think you should do as wbradley said but do not give him any warning do it just to identify him, somoone could take a picture of him wihtout beeing seen (so the cop knows who to look for): ''Use a different email and set up a meeting where you are supposed to be "donating" a machine to him.
Could be another Stephen Anderson type.''
And then give this case to the cops the more info you got the more chance you have that this guy get arested, then you can sue him both way with the cops for criminal threatening (I hope this is the right word ) and add to this civil sue (if he have money) that way he will learn a good lesson and get what he deserve : to be washed out and bankrupt! |

f*** him. He's a petty criminal. When push comes to shove he'll balk. You should know, better than anyone, as a soldier to this country, that most if not all posers are cowards and deserve whatever ill befits their deeds. Real men don't lie. nuff' said. |

Call the police and them investigate. It is criminal FRAUD to give out false tax receipts, so either he is legit or could possible be charged with tax fraud, or more. I would not confront him personally. |

since you never know where this will be going, take this advice: document everything, absolutely everything do you get this everything!!! Get a small journal going with copies of emails, hour of day etc. Now that you have said out loud what you thought go back to non swearing mode and simply state to him that you have had enough etc. Never any threats just state intention etc. Don't lower to his level. Most likely this will not go anywhere but this guy can do damage to you and if this keeps on going I recommend that you call the police just to get it logged and ask for a bit of advice. I believe Ontario has a computer squad etc. It is quite annoying to be in this type of situation but be the better of the two |

Any correspondence I've ever had with Anderson sounds *just like* those e-mails you posted, Gerald. I have a bunch I can forward you, if you'd like. He's a real treat. Lots of profanity, "fruitcake", the "C" word, "lots of money", etc. Definitely his M.O. |

Gerald:
1. compile all the factual documentaion and information and forward it to the Police, they have people set up for this and that is what they get paid for.
2. As above but forward the information to me.
3. Persons that can arrange for harm to come to another individual usually :
A: don't brag about it, they just get it done. B: are the last guy you would ever suspect. C: don't play the internet tough guy game.
and most importantly D: own an awesome selection of cordless power tools. |

Yes I agree with Cory, it sounds like Anderson's M.O. First he needs to be ID'd I know what he looks like if you have a pic. It sounds typical of his schemes to get stuff for nothing. Once he's picked out, you know your foe. |

Definitey sounds like Uttley/Anderson's MO. So the Hamilton police will have an extensive record. Threats by email are taken seriously by the police and investigated and IF someone local pursues him and presses charges, he is more likely to be found and "warned" which will drive him back into his hole. |

Gerald, and I guess anyone on here, I'll pass on some advice that I have found works well for me. Sorry to give a bit of a lecture here, but I hope it helps.
Daily I have to make decisions that factor in many emotions, fear, revenge, loyalty, trust, greed, etc.
What I try to do is remove the emotions from my decision making process and try to think logically. I look at each option and choice I could make and determine the course of events that should happen, based on each decision. I then try to find the choice that is the best representation of the outcome I desire.
Being a person who wants a positive outcome, I try to make positive decisions. Granted the outcome you may seek is for retribution, or revenge, but revenge rarely helps a person out longterm, and is a negative decision. It usually breeds a negative response from the victim, and you are caught in an endless cycle of negativity. Generally speaking, people who make decisions seeking revenge are always mired in negative experiences, and drama. This is no way to live.
Try to make decisions with a desire for improving your life with positive efforts. If your decisions involve negative people, such as your situation, try to find a situation that will remove the negative persons from your life. It may be something as simple as ignoring them. They only understand negative reactions, and no reaction from you may not feed their emotions, and they may move on to something/someone else.
Seeking positive decisions, and making positive actions that you can control, usually result in positive results. Choosing negative decisions, will usually generate negative results, especially if you have other negative persons involved.
Do not take the law into your own hands. Hard to see a positive from that decision. Do use the law to your best ability, and if you are being threatened, take legal action against it. Act with class, and integrity, if that is who you are, (that is my opinon of you). If you think you may regret a decision later on, don't do it.
Finally the most important advice I can give. When you make an important decision, don't act on it. Wait one day, sleep on it, and see if you feel the same tomorrow.

i say it anderson. just like others stated. thats his m.o. for emails "fruitcake". he is the one with the collection of pretty birds. not mean dogs or anything. i have meet the guy and he is no threat. specially if there is more then one of you. he had no friends. so he would be alone. but i say go to the police. threats over the internet are a thing they tend not to rush out and capture the guy for. but the tax receipts and claims he made like that will really peak their interest. if you have friends on the force, then just ask them. its easy for a set up to be done to capture a greedy person. you wouldn't even need to use a A list game to get him. just any old thing/things will do.

Your statement is logical, remove any emotion from the process. Resistance to positive change will result in negative results. Let the legal system work for you. One should never take a hands on approach to matters such as these. **However I only have one issue with your statement as quoted above. Do nothing and they will move on to somone else. This could be a learning opportunity for the Negative individual. Again I must stress never take the matter into your own hands. |

Well I think people are missing the point here. This guy is misrepresenting himself as someone putting together a collection for a museum. Gerald is basically being impersonated to feed this lowlife's greed. It is hard to prove he isn't planning a museum but tax receipts cannot be issued fraudulently based on a non- existant museum. That's the only way to stop him.
First, positively ID hiM. Then set him up and use his bogus receipt as evidence when you go to the police.
That's probably the best you can do to discourage this type of character. Alternately, you can ignore him, place an occasional warning on Kijiji/Craigslist and hopefully suffer no reprocussions as a result of this miscreant's activities.
It's only worth putting in energy if he's causing you harm. If he's an irritation, just spread the word what he's doing. |

thanks for the advice guys, I really do appreciate it, and have carefully taken all your opinions into acount. Especially coaster 33's comments.Part of this post was a vent as well. rather than take any negative actions, but in any case, I am not too big on violence, and especially revenge. I let the big man upstairs take care of that, usually works out better for all involved too. I can assure you all that i wont take matters into my own hands, and have in fact had an opportunity to sleep on it.Unfortunately, I am human, and although very slow to anger, not immune to it.
I am going to go the legal route, and even if it comes to nothing, at least there will documentation for any future repercussions.
I hate to think that some people, that may have actually talked to me in person, think I have something to do with this guy( My partner as he claims), and donate games to him thinking that they are helping my cause out, or me. That is a real shame, and the part that upsets me the most, as there are a lot of kind hearted people in this world who would probably do so, getting duped in the process.
Have a nice afternoon guys, and thanks again for the insightful, rational opinions. |

I guess this guy isn't slowing down. He reposted today. and what's sadder still is he posted so many times he's pushing other ads to the second page. I also noticed the Pinball warning ad which LT_V2 had noticed has been removed.
In the upper right hand of each ad there is a "report ad" button which lets viewers report ads as fradulent. I flagged all of his ads as frauds about four hours ago. Didn't seem to have any immediate effect though. All the ads are still posted. |
