I booked a hotel on the wkd. for the A'town show..there were quite a few good deals on the web...Expedia had the Red Roof and the Super 8 both below $70/nt. I remember last year there was a special show price somewhere, but likely not too much cheaper than these prices. I booked the Holiday Inn Express which was reasonable too. It came with a full breakfast and free hi-speed. I'm there for 4 nts.again, Thurs.thru Sun.
BTW if anyone is interested (hehe) theres a guy near A'town that has shafted me in a big way. Its with one of the Plasma TV's ..it was destroyed before he shipped, and now he's dragged me along in trying to get my $$ back...since August!! It finally looks like PAYPAL is going to give me back most of the $$ thru their protection plan, but I'll still be out about $700. So.....who wants to join me in a little side trip??? Baseball bats optional! I figure theres always strength in #'s....I'll reward you in beer!!!!
Forget beer... Reward us with pins!! You seem to be overflowing with those anyway! Or maybe we should give your wife a call... hehe Blackmail

For Heavy Metal Meltdown, I will drive down and take care of it myself!!! I am a master of payback. I once was ripped off of 80$ by a guy in high school (he was supposed to get me Pink Floyd tickets...) and he kept the money. A funny thing happened 3 weeks later... I went to his place at 2:30am, took the Momo mag wheels (about 300$ each THEN) off his almost new Integra, and sold them to a buddy of mine for... 90$! .. Well, I had to buy cinder blocks to prop up the car on, so I asked for an extra 10$... gotta cover my costs.
I also once drove 11 hours to fix an Ebay case in person... I bought a boardset for my EDOT I had a while back (paid 250$...) and the guy decided to be a prick and told me off without shipping the boardset. So I drove to New York state to collect. The guy nearly mess his pants when I threatened him to go to the cops with proof in hand. I got my boardset AND 100$ for gas costs... I guess it helped that I am 5-10 and weigh 220lbs and he was barely 5-5 and 140lbs wet... Funny how people are VERY courageous behind a computer screen, but turn utterly yellow when faced in person...
I know I can get in trouble with that mentality... but sorry... I believe in "an eye for an eye".
Now.... where did I put that info on Mr.Anderson... I am feeling a bit feisty...

Geez, Jim, with the way you seem to always have money spilling out of your pockets, I wouldn't think you'd give $700 a second thought, let alone raise a stink about it.

It's the principle IMO. I still remember people or so called 'friends' that owe me $20 from 20 years ago. If you're being nice enough to hand over money on loan or for a service/product you should get it something in return, no questions asked...unless you willfully give the money out of course...

If it can help, I can put a few pounds back on and I have this terrific snear that can scare the bejeezus out of people, don't even have to say a word, I'll just stand there. .

You're IN!!! $700 is a lot of $$ no matter how you look at, but even more important is to not let someone get away with ripping others( or me) off...that REAALY pisses me off, and if you knew the whole story, it'd really piss you off too!! The guy seems to think that he's untouchable.

This is starting to sound like the massuese looking for a hitman on Craigslist.
Just got off the phone with Days Inn, Allentown. I stayed there with a buddy last year for the convention. They have the same deal as before - $49 per night - if you mention the Pinball Wizards Convention. It's only 8 minutes or so from the Agriplex. It's clean and functional and includes continental breakfast. Then again, we're not there for a beauty rest...where there to play f'n pinball!

Yah, that's where I booked last year, ... but had to cancel because my wife decided to give birth (... have no idea how that happened ! )
Once again, I will most likely offer up some pinball real estate in my Tucson if someone needs to bring a game down. PM me and we can make arrangements.

I don't know why you guys are getting so jacked up about hotels. I don't think I spent very much time in mine other than to have a shower.
If you do Allentown right you should be out playing pin until the wee hours of the night anyway.
It all boils down to budget:
Plan to buy a lot of crap in Allentown = camping Plan to buy a lot of crap in Allentown and are over 35 years old = cheap hotel Bringing hobby-passioned wife and/or kids + buying a lot of crap = medium hotel Bringing wife who was surfing for shopping info in Allentown just before trip = Ritz Carleton (if there is such a thing in A-town)
The combos are endless, please adjust accordingly!

I got sucked into the Holiday Inn Express because of an in-room jacuzzi!! Actually its only $100/nt. all in incl. a full breakfast so its not too bad. Of course I'll likely never use the jacuzzi...but you never know!! Lifting all those machines into my rented cube van will make for a few sore muscles!! I was at the HoJo last year and it was fine...basic but clean.
I talked to the wife last night and got permission (Wow! ) to attend my very first Allentown show. I'll be looking at reserving a room later this week but vis-?is travel, anyone want to travel together / share gas cost? I can either use my vehicle or ride with someone else if you?re looking for company while driving.
edit: forgot to add: I'd be willing to travel to Montreal first, it's a bit more fun to travel together (imho) thus worth the effort to pop by there first.
