Seeing as I haven't had my own "____ is in da house" thread since joining maaca some time ago, I am totally stoked to say my MAME cabinet I've been labouring on since summer is IN DA HOUSE!

I was thinking, what would be more original than "Player 1", "Player 2"? Then it came to me when my friends were always joking about King of Kong/Chasing Ghosts and thought Billy vs. Steve...of course.  Whoever is on Billy's side may be forced to wear a USA flag tie, we're not sure yet.

So my buddy Matt and I built it from the ground up.  He had already built one for himself and I'm a graphic designer so I did the design work after we were done.

Wanted the sides to be retro, knicked the idea for the stripes from Pole Position.

LED buttons light up whichever buttons the game you are playing needs (ie Donkey Kong gets 1 jump button lit, Street Fighter has all 6 buttons lit.  I love this!)

Modified a MALA skin to match the art on the marquee etc...I think it adds a cool touch to make it all come together.

Vynil coindoor sticker!

Our own scoreboard with room for 11 players to keep tabs on their scores.

I realize some people probably wouldn't want Billy Mitchell and Walter Day on their MAME cab, but I think it's hilariously awesome.

Well, I'm planning on not doing anything for a good long while except enjoying it.  I'm guessing if I do another project I'll make a spinner MAME cab out of a plastic Japanese candy cabinet I've got laying around.  Pretty much would just have to install a monitor, couple of buttons a spinner and a PC and that'd be it.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just add a spinner to your current cab??  They don't take a lot of space...

I really like your cab BTW

Mike

Wow, that's a brilliant theme for a cab and yeah, I love that scoreboard idea.  Would kind of motivate more people to join in on playing some classics.

What did you have to do to have the buttons light up like that?  Is that something the software handles or did you have to do something special to get it to recognize which buttons to light up?
