Well its a big deal to me anyway and I'm sure to the other person involved. I introduced the person I made the trade with to Maaca about a week prior to making the deal.
Anyways I traded my "Big Deal" (Williams EM 1977) and my Indy 500 for a HUO Lord of the Rings. Both of the machines I traded were collector quality. The Big Deal by the way was a machine that I thought I would never trade or sell. Of all the EM's I've played I enjoyed this game the most. Then again I felt the same way about Indy 500, until this opportunity came along.
This is my first new pinball, and it was from 2005-02 and I got it from the original owner and the game is virtually flawless (I put a few tiny scratches in the back moving it - sh*t). I also got the original invoice with it.
Well since I got the machine a few weeks ago I haven't played any other pins. This game is "awesome". Of all the newer Stern games this game is the one I wanted the most, even though I wasn't very familiar with it. All I can say is that I wasn't dissapointed in the least. I loved the movie trilogy and the game designers did an amazing job making this game faithful to the movies. The sound and voices (from the characters in the movies are incredible). I also really like the way one multiball mode flows into another. The dots are also pretty spectacular.

Congrats.....I am sure it will be a keeper. I am not a fan of the newer Stern pins, but I have not heard anything but good about LOTR. The few times I have played it have always been fun. Enjoy your new pin |

Sweet. Someday I will own a LOTR.
There will soon be a cold (though dry) wind blowing though MB. A HUO LOTR will go a long way to helping you through the winter.
I was born at St. Boniface, formative years in Thompson, lived a few more years in the peg before moving to Ottawa. I visit all the relatives in MB at leased once a year. Next time I'm in the neiborhood I will have to drop by and play a few games. |

Welcome to the club!!!
Make sure you have the latest roms (v10). Hole the right flipper button as you turn on the machine and watch the DMD it'll tell ya which rom you're running.
Congrats!

Thanks for the tip on upgrading the roms (Necro/Mr. Mikeman V10).
HP5P - you're right its all good! I think I need a SPP to keep it company though.

LOTR without a doubt is the best game I've ever played/owned. Yes I like it better then TZ. Glen was over the other night and we played a two player game for a good 35-40 mins. |

Cool, so when can I come by and pick up the pins that you no longer have time for. Adam |

Thanks all for your comments/contributions.
When I got the game the outlane posts were in the lowest position (easy setting), but I thought the game played a little too easy this way, where it was very easy to keep the ball from draining most of the time. I switched them to the middle position and it made a much bigger difference than I thought. Now when the ball is headed directly into the outlane most of the time you can't shake it out.
Anyways, those of you with a LOR pin, how do you have these posts set? I'm going to leave mine like this for a while and see what happens.

I think LOTR shipped with the posts at the furtherest setting which is what mine are set at. My LOTR is HUO and looking at the playfield, I can tell the posts have never been moved, i.e. no dimples where the post was originally placed. I actually like them at this setting as it makes the game challenging. I have all settings to default and the first free ball is at 20M and in increments of 20M from there.
Cheers, Duane |
