Just wondering if anyone would be willing to make up a sketch with dimensions on them for me.If possible outside measurements and also mounting hole locations would be very helpful.I picked up the galvanized sheet metal so its just a matter of cutting them and drilling etc when I no the measurements. If there is a link to this info or if anyone would willing to help that would be awsome. My project didn`t have the steel mounting plates for both board sets and I want to re-install my boards on an original looking piece if possible.Of course if someone has a spare set of sheet metal back planes and would like to donate to the project I would gladly pay for shipping. Thanks Chris.

I assume you have a boardset to install so you that you can position the support posts correctly. ...otherwise if you're going to install 16 posts based strictly on measurements, the odds are one will be off by a bit.
I have a plate in front on me, and here is something to start with ...
(Note : due to Font issues, the proportions look wrong. The width (L to R) is 20" The height (top to bottom) is 15"
Size : 20" x 15" (exactly ).
The CPU board board sits centered (top to bottom) on the 15" height. The Posts are 1/4" from the left side (that's the outer rim of the post, the center is about 3/8" ) (...that should allow you to position the CPU board)
The ROM board posts (top) line-up with top of the CPU Posts. The Right-most posts are 1/4" from the right hand side of the plate ( which should leave you about 1" space between the right-most CPU post and Left-most ROM board post )
The left-most INTERFACE board posts line-up with the left-most ROM posts. There is a 1 3/16" space between the bottom-left ROM post and the Upper Left Interface Post. (this is outer-rim to outer-rim of posts. Centre post spacing is about 1 7/16" )
Hey Chris, what boardset/game are you working on? I could be wrong, but going from memory, I don't think they are all exactly alike. The later machines are likely similar/the same but I think Defender differs from Robotron etc. Then again I could be right out to lunch. Let me know and I should be able to give you accurate info - plus you are local which may help if you want to take a look yourself.

Thanks Steph!! that helps for the CPU ROM and interface board I can easily figure out the rest for that one . Thanks also to Sparky!!definitely some insperation on the project. Marktoo it is a Stargate boardset that I`m doing this for actually.I`ll PM you and maybe I can touch base with you.Nice knowing there is more than one MAACA member from Cambridge.
STILL NEEDED I will also need the Dimensions for the POWER SUPPLY and sound board plate if anyone can help there that would be great also. Thanks in advance Chris.

You're partly right...
Later boardsets ( Robo/Joust/Stargate etc... ) are different "component-wise" and hardware-wise than the Defender boards, but the "foot-print" is the same. (ie. All the PCBs are the same size, with the same hole spacing )
The only exception to this is the Sound board which is physically different in size between the early Defender games and the more common "later" WMS sound board. (See pics below )
Also different between Defender and other games is the metal plate used and board placement.
Defender is the only game that has ALL the boards mounted on ONE large metal plate located on the inside wall of the cabinet.
All other WMS games after Defender had the split hinged door layout on which the 3 board set was screwed to the door.
Anyway Marktoo and I were able to talk on the phone and he was also very helpful. He has supplied me with the dimensions on the other piece of the puzzle. So hopefully they will get sheared to size etc. on Monday,I might even have enough steel for two sets WOOT!!Thanks again to Steph and Marktoo for all the help.CHEERS guys and hopefully I can help you out in the future.
