well it's official. i am now the proud new owner of a gorgar pin. it's my first and hopefully not my last. i make the 3 hour drive to go and pick it up saturday. then the real fun begins, the repairs. FYI i'll need you all to help me out when it comes time to get this thing up to par. thanks in advance for all the help. check the link and tell me what you think. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAP.....93&rd=1&rd=1 did i get a deal or taken for a ride??
I dont think you got taken on it (not counting the drive you did , it seems like a decent Gorgar. I would not say its a great deal either but it is very fair. Shopped, 100% working Gorgars would sell for about 800$ Canadian.
What are the "adjustments" he was talking about ?
Enjoy !! The fun begin !

While I personally do not think eBay is the best place to purchase a first pinball, the cosmetics on that Gorgar appears to be nice, and Gorgar is a fun game, with nice artwork and good sound/early speech. I agree with Azatoth, a very nice, freshly shopped and 100% working Gorgar's selling price usually hovers between $750-$1000 cdn.
The potential issues: distance to pick-up the machine (easy) (Edit: but Also need to pay the GST/PST at the cdn border) and then any potential repairs needed (could be challenging and costly if you do not have any electronic/repairs expertise). Indeed, a few newbees here have not had a very positive experience with their first pinball machines bought on eBay, or with poor repairs attempts by some 'techs'.
On the positive side, this MAACA board can help quite a bit, especially if you have a bit of electronic know-how. There are a few people on this board also very qualified to perform board repairs, etc. (mindstorm88, etc.).
Good luck & Enjoy this fun 'disease' that is called a hobby!
Regards, - Sylvain.
Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron, 1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others. Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!
Congrats. Gorgar was also my first pinball. Great choice! I have had a few over the years and when I get a big enough house, I plan on having a permanent Gorgar. Currently, my collection consists mainly of WPC games. My first Gorgar was sold to buy my TZ. It went for a worthy cause
Price seems very fair especially considering the condition. Unless I am missing something, the playfield, plastics and cabinet really look good. Especially the playfield. It's hard to find a Gorgar with a nice playfield, so that alone is good news. Also, the backglass has very minor flaking. I have seen many with bad flaking. Really, really hard to find one with a nice backglass AND playfield, so I think you did well.
In terms of price, Az is right. $800 CDN seems to be what local collectors are willing to pay, but I have seen them sell for $1,000 CDN (none of mine, though), so you never know.
the seller says this; "the coil is the obvious one, it has burnt paper on the coil. The MPu has a battery clip that should be replaced and some connectors replaced or tightened. I usally replace the main MPU to Sol PCB on all williams game before operation. the game needs to be shopped out and have all rubber rings replaced. " edit: also it needs a flipper button for the left side. i guess i'll find out more details when i pick it up. i can't wait!
