Hey Mrhide... are these the guys you deal with? If yes, they did an awesome job on that BK2K...
Sparky
Bite yer tounge heretic: bk2k in those pics was by the pioneer & trail blazer Bill Davis.
You will need to sell off a few more machines if you are sending more than one playfield to be fixed. Any small touch up easily adds $100 to base price.. And multiply by 2 if it's multi-level game. even though both peices of wood add up to just one playfield, it's twice the amount of base work::: CHA-CHING
i will let mr. hide post about his dream pharoh clearcoat quote from chris hutchins (who is equally talented but i only trust bill because he did it first and has a larger body of experience). actually i'm getting depressed, i just realized i spent more than what chris quoted Mr. Hide. i forgot the $50 usd for insert decals.... o.s.t.i
GIMME ALL YOUR MONEY.. truer words have never been spoken by a pin.
I'm thinking about sending out my TAF playfield to get touched up, been thinking about doing it for a year now. I would send it to Chris, from my readin I like his process better then Bill Davis. Bill Davis puts on a really thick clear which I've read can dimple where as Chris doesn't put on as thick a layer of clear.
Adam - Trust me I talked to Chris, back search RGP about a month ago. He doesn't so single touchups/clears anymore not unless you send him the entire game. Besides CH isnt that good anyways ask Doug how his T2 turned out from him. Bill is the BEST there is from the research I've done.

Just don't ask Doug about the touchups though!
It seems you have Bill Davis, the pioneer. Reasonable price but may take a few seasons to get your pf's done.
On the other hand you have PlayfieldRenovations. More expensive but equally as talented with a much faster turn around time.
My TAF playfield will require Extensive work. It was my first Pin ever bought so I paid to much for it and didn't know any better. But I figure what needs to be done is the following:
Magnet burn will need touchup Electric char hole wear will need to be fixed Right inlane wear needs fixed, worn to the wood Manson has minor insert wear Graveyard has insert wear Swamp has wear Thing scoop will need to be fixed as well.
I also have to remove the mylar on the field as well. Might be better ifI just found a repo field and bought that instead.

Bill doesn't like the thick coats. sometimes he has no choice. for instance, the after market decals are printed on material a few mills thicker than what williams used. So that alone takes like 3 coats to make the playfield even and then put..
i forgot the formula but it's something like Bill sprays 2 coats, does the touches ups, then sprays the final 3 coats.. but my bk2k needed 10 or 12 coat.. i've forgotten.
The reason i suspect a lot of people whine about clearcoat problems is that they they think it's a magical armour. it isn't. Clearcoating is not immune to repeated cracking. you still need to put special mylar in ball drop areas. People have a tendency to reasemble the games quickly and not let the clear cure properly for a few months.
Also when you dissasemble a playfield, rub your fingers over the ball drop areas like on TZ or RoadShow. you'd be surprised how much a beating and deep a groove (invisbile to the eye) there is in the wood itself. the clear won't prevent it.
There's a lot to think about before clearcoating. i had no choice with bk2k or CV to bring the game back to life but i also had to lay down mylar.
