I've heard that the new movie is bad, star wars prequel bad. If that's true, it might sully your appreciation for the theme. I really hope the movie doesn't ruin my memories and appreciation of Raiders.
On the other hand, the pinball game looks great! Buy it and invite me over. That ark toy looks wicked.
Well, I pre-bought my movie tickets 2 weeks ago, so I guess I will know on the 26th if it sucks or not... As for SW-prequel bad, I didn't think they were all that bad... it's just that the hype was SOOOOO built up on them that when people saw that they weren't Oscar-material, people said they sucked.
...And BTW, look up what people said about SW in 1977. 99% of critics said that it was a horrible movie.

I don't know about that. The prequels are worse every time I see them. The acting and dialogue is cringe inducing. The plot is overly complex. The special effects are over used. The sets and locales aren't interesting. The characters are stale, wooden, and universally unlikable. The only part from the prequels I still enjoy are the pod race.
If the Star Wars name wasn't attached to these movies, they wouldn't have made a dime at the box office.
As for the reviews in 77: Ebert, Washington Post, NYTimes, They seem pretty positive to me. I'm sure the reviews didn't call it a classic at the time, but what classic gets labeled that when it comes out?
Now, I'm gonna still see the movie (IJ4) because I trust Spielberg. It's VERY rare that he makes a stinker. And even his stinkers are pretty good (Temple of Doom, Lost World, AI).

I just think they made a horrible choice for Anakin Skywalker. I never liked Christensen. As for the kid in EP1, he just seemed irrelevant.
Darth Maul never really was too convincing either. Darth Vader just had to stand there and breathe to make you squirm in your seat. Darth Maul just looked like a clown on a bad day.
First: Star Wars (original) Movies are classic but with the exception of the acting by Harrison Ford, C3PO, R2 and Darth Vader it was bad as well. The effects for it's day (even by todays standards) were fantastic.
Second: The new movies had bad acting too but it was not much worse than the originals. The really bad romantic scenes should have made the cutting room floor and jar-jar was a little too much but the story lines were within expectations. Lets face it, you don't go to see star wars if you want acting.
Third: I played MB at Mikes and I really liked it - classic. Perhaps it is a little easy to play (not to complete), kind of like my SS - but I love them both for their "fun" factor. SS keeps me coming back so far. I only managed last night to get on the Highscore board - Jim must of spent a lot of time "teasing" El-Vira in his showroom to get all those high scores.
Fourth: From what I have seen of the new Stern pins - I like em but I do not think they measure up with the 90s Williams. Part of the reason for that is the themes do not have staying power (exception IJ4). Who will remember the Simpsons 10 years after it's over? The newer generations have so much variety (shows, media, technology) that the staying power of almost anything just does not exist. The rate of change contributes to this. The old stuff "Hollywood Classic Monsters" will always be classics because of the limited variety of the times.
Oh yeah, if only Stern could get those flippers to make less noise. (My only complaint with the Stern machines themselves).
I am looking forward to playing an IJ4 at the earliest opportunity!
My 2 cents.

The Simpsons are already classic. I haven't watched the show in years, but the pinball theme still resonates. It's similar to TZ. It too was a TV show, that could've been forgotten, but it's a classic, so people will remember it for a LONG time.

Simpson's is in what, it's 18th or 19th season? This is not a show that will be forgotten for a Loooooooooooong time. Pin is $1000 to $2000 less than retail a couple of years ago, Mind you, the US$$ hit the skids since then, but still.

I hate clowns.
The Star Wars prequels are the worst movies ever made! Ol' Georgie Lucas was loosing my respect each year he kept re-releasing his originals, and adding stupid, terrible looking, nonsensical, computer characters....but I eventually forgave him. Then those disasters of movies came out...led by Jar Jar Binks...and they gradually got worse, and worse. And after all that, I forgot about Star Wars and got into pinball collecting....then I learned the "history" of pinball2000 and well, I blame George Lucas for the downfall of Pinball and Williams....he ruined my hobby before I even got into it. So, I'm not sure if he had anything to do with IJ4 movie...but if he did...that movie WILL blow, and that pinball machine will be worth as much as a Johnny Mnemonic after a few years.

TZ was a TV show?? Hmmm - I thought it was just cool pinball machine. In any case, even TZ will be forgotten in 20 years when everyone who ever watched it is long gone. DId anyone ever really watch it? Wasn't that back when TV was black and white and people listened to movies on the radio>>??
Look we get it, we know your an IJ fanboy, but to trying and put IJ into the same league as things like the TZ the show and The Simpsons is just silly. I don't know much about TZ, but I do know that it was quite ground breaking for it's time, the theme song along is still something that gets associated with all types of diffrent things, so if I were to think what would be remebered in the next 20 years, IJ or TZ, TZ would win.
Then trying to say Simpons will be forgotten, your fanboyism is so bad that you've forgotten that the Simpsons has been running for 19 YEARS! IJ's 3 movies are a drop in the bucket in comparission to the sheer existance and vastness that is the simpsons.
Take off your IJ colored glasses, get out from under your IJ covered blanket, change your harrison ford undies and realize that IJ while a decent movie is not the be all and end of of EVERYTHING.

IJ4 looks pretty sweet if your collecting for value i would say monster bash. If you like indy get indy...
I persoanlly played monster bash i didnt like.. maybe it was the condition it was in? or it felt like a really slow game. Shoot the ball wait for it to come back.. also the play field was kinda bunk... yeah it has alot of toys. But it felt like everything was tossed on make the middle so clumped.
IJ4 havent play it i posted a vid of it in the pins section. it looks promising the video looks awsome, the sounds is pretty clear.... But idunno about the play field. looks like LOTR.. fast paced game, but not enough ball mechincs? (im not talking fancey arks or magnets..like basic ball flow) Meh .. i dunno i have played it so i can't really say.
IJ4 is a stern machine.. and yes stern is the only future for pinball.. ive played a couple stern machines don't like them because of the flippers and the parts they use. BUT i really do like spiderman thats the only one i can say i enjoyed (and may buy in the future).
As for older IJ and TZ i own both and yes TZ is the better game of the 2. I persoanlly dont know a whole lot about TZ but what i do know is the game is GOLD.. TZ hands down. TZ is the perfect formula of ball flow and toys.
Having finally played IJ4 and having played MB much more for me it would be MB way out in front ... IJ4 was all right .. MB much more so but not the most challenging game.
Centigrade 37 ... LOTR in da House ... a Barracora ....... Spidey ... RFM
