Hello,

Has anyone seen a Sega R360 machine in Canada, umm.. recently/semi-recently. I don't think there are any operating in Canada but I figured this would be a good way for me to check.

I would like to hear from someone from Quebec especially because I heard a machine got transported up there from the Skylon Tower in Ontario, so if you know of any of these machines in Quebec please tell me.

If you don't know what the R360 is here's a video:

Thanks.

Translation:

"Don't mind me... I don't know jack mess."

REAL translation:  Oh yeah...I used to wait in line to try it, and each month it was written "out of order". And at the time, this arcade was one of the best in the Laval area and there was even a slot car track inside. And after, there was the seemingly-eternal-lasting downfall which lasted about 5 years where it was completely deserted and you went there to merely laugh and catch a 2$ flick all the while sitting on a brick bench.

Thanks for the translation! (and thanks to the person who provided the information).  Is this the only (formerly) known R360 in the Quebec area?

As far as I can remember, yes. VERY few distributors dared to handle such a machine... I remember one going on Ebay 2 years ago for a mere 400$, and it was fully working. Takes one big truck to haul that beast... Any bigger than that, and you are talking about a Galaxian 3, which is the size of a small house!!!

Yeah, the machine weighs over 2000lbs (a ton), its quite the beast, plus you have to consider the fence that goes around it and the attendants tower too.  It was also very expensive in the day so only arcades that had a lot of funds and a lot of traffic got one.  There are some other big machines out there like power sled (used to be at the playdium), its a huge 2 seater per-seat bobsled game, just insanely huge, probably takes up more space than a galaxian 3.  Unfortunately I have never seen a galaxian 3 but I have played a R360 before.  Virtua racing super deluxe is also another huge machine, I have played one at the Skylon Tower before.

In case there is some confusion this is the place i am talking about:

http://www.playdium.com/

So I take it the R360 in Laval is not there anymore, I certainly hope that the person that waited in line to play it month after month eventually got to play it!

Hahaha yeah i think so.... (he will die a happy man)

But that's weird :  i was a kid back then,  And i didn't even want to go in & try  that 360 thing....  ''i didn't find it cool....''

maybe because there was  a external monitor that showed the gameplay during the person was playing  inside...

and it wasn't looking that good...

i prefered the afterburner cockpit.

Wich they had one back then at the ''RECREATHEQUE''(flea market) In laval.

(that was  an other kick a** arcade that died eventually.....)

I like the Afterburner too, hence my nickname   Thankfully I can still play a real working After burner cockpit at the Skylon Tower.  The After Burner and R360 are my 2 favorite games.  Of course I like others such as OutRun and Galaxy Force too!

I am still hunting an afterburner climax to play, not getting very far either, I have called every distributor in my area, haven't called the canadian ones yet, I'll get around to that, gotta work up the nerve lol.  I waited 20 years for this game to come out and I don't want to miss out on playing it.  There just aren't any in my area though, if you get to try it let me know.

I like all the big simulators, even the obscure stuff that most people have never heard of!

Theres a space harrier at the skylon tower too, its very fun as its the cockpit version.  Here are some pictures of the games in the skylon tower, not the best ones, I have more, if there is a particular game you want to see a picture of don't hesitate to ask.
