Is there a way to get Daphne to run Dragons Lair, Space Ace or DLII without the DvD's?

The new version of Daphne requires that you have a copy of the DvD before it will let you play the game.

I thought you could set daphne to download the images by itself.  It takes hours, or you could pull them down from other torrent sites.  If none of that works, in a few weeks I'll have my mame computer up and running and I'll be able to "lend you the images to try"   .

Yea you can use Daphne to download the audio/video files and roms for DL, DLII Space Ace and Thayers Quest but you can't play any of them without the corresponding DvD's

Why not mount the images using something like Daemon Tools? It creates a fake CD/DVD drive and uses an image sitting on your hard drive. It tricks programs into thinking you have a DVD in a drive when you don't.

That's a good idea, I still need to find an ISO download.  I grabbed a torrent of the DvD's and am trying to burn them now I'll see if that works.

I use this so I can take my legitimately purchased Colelge Electronics Course on the Road with me on a portable.  Works amazingly well.

Happy to report that the DvD's I downloaded worked perfectly (Well at least the DLII one has haven't tried the other ones), so I was playing DLII, love that game, not to just get Daphne working with Hyper spin

Johnny's right though. If you use a utility like MagicISO (freeware), there would be no requirement to burn. Just have the ISO on the hard drive and mount the image. Your system will show it as an additional drive. No need to burn and swap around disks. Just mount the image you want with a couple clicks and your done.

You only have to present the DvD the one time to "Verify" that you actually have the DLII DvD once it's "verified" you have the Dragons Lair DvD you can remove it and it will still work as the files it needs are all on the HDD.
