This might just be the lamest question I've ever posed, but I've never had this happen before.   All of a sudden, my Bally Mystic won't let me add any credits.  It boots up and goes into attract mode, but activating any of the coin switches does nothing.  Dip switches have not been tampered with, but it's not possible to lock out all the credits anyway is it ?   I tried to add credits with and without the coin lockout coil activated.  Nothing has worked.

So what's up ?

Check for a broken wire at one of the coin switches.

The wires seem fine.  I assume since none of the coin switches work, you must mean a wire that runs from the coin door to the backbox ?  I guess I need to check for continuity.

Took two minutes before dinner and reseated the coin door connector.  Reseated J3 as well.  Test mode works.  Is that strange ?  I'll do a continuity check after dinner.   I don't have schematics handy.  Is there a single wire that connects all of the coin door switches to the MPU ?

Thanks

No, but there would likely be a single wire (ground) daisy chaining them together.  Figure out where the ground comes in (probably yellow, red, or black, I bet) and make sure it's getting power.

Go into switch test mode and check your coin switches.

Then press the self test button until your credit display says "05" and add credits to the game with the start button. Exit self test mode, wait for the game to reset, press the start button to start a game and just play.

wiggle the top right connector on the solenoid driver while someone trips the coindoor switches. I had a similar problem on 3 Sterns. Broken solder joints on header pins on the solenoid driver board.

Retiring soon...

I had a broken solder joint on my slam tilt switch on the door. This caused the exact same problem you described.
