Interesting modern use of these 'older' small zipper flippers.

Good game!

For sure, all of them fully shopped by HEP. Oh and they would throw in an F14. Cause they're worthless apparently.

Geeze, he hasn't responded..... must be liking the new addition. Enjoy it Phil! Can you send me the tilt mechanism that you will be pulling out?

Well it can't be the tilt mechanism, because that would be a plus in your books.

It powers up and runs the displays looking at the pics. Looks good. Anything major?

"bunch of stuff":

-left upper flipper needs to be rebuilt.
-The top hole doesn't eject nor does the outhole ( which kinda sucks eh ? )
-lights under the translucent flippers last about 12 seconds on the right side
-sound goes a little nutty every time it goes in the pops
-about 20 lights are out and I HATE those $@ bally 555 sockets damn it!
-coil diagnostics actually freeze the game at ~ 20 something

zzz now so more diag tomorrow ... it's in and setup so that's ok for tonight.

Thank god for mylar , the playfield is amazing.

"time your shot, light gorgon!"  "mouhahaha!"

cooool game

How many different sequences are there to the upper targets?

It all sounds pretty simple, except the coil diagnostics. I wonder if your board is getting a surge from a bad diode.

I took apart a few Ballys and have maybe 150 of those 555 sockets if you need any. I even cleaned some of them with the polisher and it got the crud off the contacts.

Let me know, and I will bring soem in January to your place for the meeting.

Nice game Phil!

Quick notes on the bugs:
-left upper flipper needs to be rebuilt.
With parts from Pinball Resource for sure.
-The top hole doesn't eject nor does the outhole ( which kinda sucks eh ? )
Transistors on the Solenoids Driver PCB bad?
-lights under the translucent flippers last about 12 seconds on the right side
Not sure.
-sound goes a little nutty every time it goes in the pops
Darn.  Connectors/EPROM/socket?
-about 20 lights are out and I HATE those $@ bally 555 sockets damn it!
Need to swap with newer lamps or then Lamp Driver PCB 2N transistors probably bad (I had like 5 bad on my Flash Gordon at one point).
-coil diagnostics actually freeze the game at ~ 20 something
Darn.  Note sure.

First thing to check is that the output voltages are within valid/normal range on the Power Supply PCB on cabinet bottom (as per Clay's site).

I had my eye on 2 of these machines in the last little while but could not put it together. Very nice pin. One of the great Ballys of that era, A hard find as well! Keep me first in line if you ever want to sell it! Have fun!

Unfortunately, Bally's don't use a direct Solenoid#-to-Transistor assigment pattern, at least not that I'm aware of. You have to always follow it through the schematics, or consult the schematic page of the PS/SOLENIOD Driver board specific to that game, it usually tells you the soleniod names on the output pins. Problem is, these specific sheets are not always available, unless you have the original manual.

Another way to do it, is to use this chart (from Marvin's), and note the wire-color of the solenoid, and find the same color on the connector pins at the driver board. This will tell you the transistor relationship:

Q1 CR1 R9 J1-2, J2-9
Q2 CR2 R6 J1-3, J2-4
Q3 CR3 R16 J2-5, J3-4
Q4 CR4 R18 J1-5
Q5 CR5 R10 J2-10
Q6 CR6 R12 J2-11
Q7 CR7 R14 J2-12
Q8 CR8 R20 J5-10
Q9 CR9 R26 J5-9
Q10 CR10 R28 J5-15
Q11 CR11 R32 J5-14
Q12 CR12 R30 J5-13
Q13 CR13 R22 J5-12
Q14 CR14 R24 J5-11
Q15 CR15 R39 Flipper Relay
Q16 CR16 R34 J2-6, J3-7, J5-8

Exactly, this is the simplest way.

Also check the associated resistors and diode for each drive transistor.
Often one or more bad component there.

Cheers,
- Sylvain
