Thanks for hosting Adam.

The two balls that went straight off the paladir target and SDTM solidified my deep rooted hatred towards Stern. If I could have A. picked up the game; and B. thrown it out the basement window, it was going.

Congrats - sounds like fun.   Just out of curiousity - when the game is set to tournament mode how long is a typical game for an A-player?

I have most games with posts set in the easy (liberal?) settings - and most software options at the easy setting - yet my games are still quite short.   At least they are longer than my brother-in-laws, though...

I think there was a paparazzi ban.  Those TOPL people are very secretive.  But just think of 14+ people in a really crowded basement, with lots of food, drinks and pinball's being played.

With the outlanes set to max, I found some games a bit nasty (TZ, TAF, FT) and on others it did not make much difference (Congo, STTNG, LOTR).  I think the average ball on BSD was about 30 second.  But LOTR was still 5 minutes per ball (or it felt like it).

If anyone is thinking of going to the next one, you should do it.  This was my first and I think I will have to try to attend more in the future.

Obviously you did not bare witness to my performance against Steve on LOTR. I might have set some new records for shortest ball in the history of pinball.

Lets put it this way. Launch, right flip, Palidir target, SDTM..... X2 in a row. Gotta love those Sterns.

Nope, no pictures, I was too busy organizing everything, fixing problems that kept popping up and hosting so no time for pictures.

This has more to do with your inablity to play rather then the fact it is a Stern    What the hell were you shooting the plantir target for on your first shot anyway?  Also there are a number of shots setup exactly the same way in Williams/Bally.  BSD has the 3 bank target that any direct shot will send the ball screaming STDM and FT has the captive ball direct center that has a dendancy to end up going SDTM after a shot.

Also an interesting note of 11 machines, 10 Bally/Williams and 1 Stern.  7 Bally/williams machines failed in some way, LOTR has been my rock!

Problems I ran into:

Trough switch on TAF - wire fell off.
Trough Proximity on TZ failed - loose connector
Battlefied on Shadow broken twice - wire keeps comming off coil
No Fear flipper sticking up - Right flipper button is sticking in.
BSD mist multiball malfunction - gave mist multiball even though ball was not hit off magnet
Fish Tales switch failure on boat.
ST:TNG - keeps losing track of balls.

Also in all the TOPL meetings and all the times my LOTR gets played I've have only had to fix 2 switches and adjust the balrog switch.  My LOTR is a rock I'd take the reliablity I've seen with my LOTR on any of my Bally/Williams any day of the week.

It was subconscious. I am certain subliminally I was trying to get away from that thing as quickly as possible. It even overrid my want to succeed.

You forgot JM.  Flipper issues when I was playing it.  We had to choose another game because of it.

I offered to help with that issue. The pickup was empty.
