Looks like I will be makign the trip from Hamilton to Ottawa to pick up my pin, but the truck is ful going up.  I have room for one pin or a cabinet coming back from Ottawa, through Trenton, to Hamilton (via 407) if someone is looking to have a pin transported for a reasonable fee to help me with gas / mileage.

When were you going to make this trip? Jvegas has a pin on Ebay that I would bid on if I could line up transportation. I think the auction ends this Wednesday.
Thanks,

I am going to see jvegas on Nov 18th, depending on the width of the machine, I will have room for returning one pinball to Toronto/Hamilton (or along the way).  I am charging $150 for the delivery, but you would have to help lift it off the van (3 guys is better).  I can bring an appliance dolly if you need help up or down stairs, but 2 - 3 other guys are needed for the newer pinballs (I'm a lightweight).

Let me know.

I am thinking of bidding on a wedgehead and I would for sure be helping with the lifting. Let me see how the auction goes on Wednesday.
Thanks!

4 guys to move a pinball... sheesh, you are a lightweight.

Now of course, if we are talking Atari Hercules...then maybe 4.

I know you're kidding, but I meant 3 guys including me, but 4 would be a dream (for something as heavy as Shaq!) if there's enough room, especially going UP stairs.  2 guys going down stairs is enough (on a dolly), and wedgeheads and older pins are quite light by comparison, and you can take the head off which makes a big difference.

(Moving shaq attaq took me by surprise)

Sorry my 'websherpa' friend, but you'll need a lesson on 'moving pinballs 101'...

You need only 2 people to move a wpc using a dolly...let the dolly to the work!

I'll take the lesson, any day, that's what it's all about.  I have the whole legs taking off bit and strapping to a dolly by myself (on any pin) down to an art.  It only takes two to lean the pin back into my van and slide her in on a sheet of cardboard.

My helper (going up two landings of stairs) was a bit lame, so worried about the stairs that he wouldn't let me rock it back on the stair climber and so I took most of the weight pulling it up and over each stairs' bull nose.  But still, it was a bit of a struggle when I can do it, so, yes, please send me a manual, tips, lessons in life and moving pinballs. I am a light weight AND I can use the advice.

Please let's collect the pin moving wisdom for posterity (and my poor aching back).

Bump.  I'm still scheduled to head out to Ottawa (Jvegas101's) this coming Saturday Nov 18.  I have a full van going up, but only one pin coming back, so there's room for another pin or cabinet that will fit in 24" space (EM's or Wedgeheads where the head can come off will fit easy).

I can come back as far west as say Cambridge or Kitchener.

Let me know if you're interested. Email preferred.

Thanks!

Frosken,

You mentioned moving pins with 2 men and a dolly, and I was really curious on how to make it easier, particularly going up stairs.  What am I doing wrong?

Given that the last pin (Shaq), I wasn't allowed to lean the dolly back on to its stair climbers much due to fear of scratching the doctor's good stairs (and in fact the stair climbing "track" on my dolly doesn't really seem to turn readily - I've seen this on most appliance dollies).

Thanks for any help you can give, I am moving at least two more pins next week.

Thank you!

That seems to be the issue.  I just moved 2 pins up and 1 pin down in the last month (reversing a normal trend of 2 down and 1 up...but I digress).

If a pin is too unwieldy, I would (and have) removed the head before moving.  And if you want to get crazy...you can remove the playfield as well.

!

I just moved 3 pins this weekend up and down my stairs. If the stairs are straight without a turn, you really should have no problem with 2 people and an appliance dolly. One person on the bottom and one on top. Just take it easy and do one step at a time.

The stair climber track shouldn't turn easily; otherwise it could slip when you are using it.

If you aren't able to do it with 2 people and a dolly. One of you is not strong enough or isn't trying. This is not a critique. I had this happen with me. I had someone help me and it was alot of work on my end. I realized afterwards that he wasn't really giving it his best. If this is the case, get a new helper

BTW, a good dolly won't hurt the stairs.

Cheers,
Duane
