Even though I no longer have any machines I still can spot a machine when I see it ( likely because I owned almost every title at some point).

For some reason I am among those who watch that STUPID LOST show on TV...last weeks episode was a back and forth thru time thing. In one of the scenes, there is a Machine in the background. You don't see it for long but it was obviously Cyclone. The trouble was it was 1977 on the show at the time, and Cyclone was made in 1988. Not something that 99.9999% of the people in the world would notice, but for some reason it bugged me. My wife just rolled her eyes and said that I was quite likely the one and only person who watched that show that saw the error. Anybody else notice it??

Rebuilding...currently Scared Stiff, Guns N'Roses, Bally Harley Davidson, Fish tales, Slugfest, JVL Conquest standup, and a Wurlitzer Juke.

Yeah I noticed it, but then again, we're talking about the Darhma Initiative's little project.  Who says they haven't been going through time to pick up great deals on pins?

I love that show.

But what's even more funny is that at some point in one of the previous seasons they had an RFM in there

So not only do they have the wrong year of machine, but they have a time traveling operator, hey not that unfeasible

... movies and TV are FULL of things like that...

I still remember watching Bad Santa with Billy Bob thornton, seeing him play a Getaway... with EM bell sounds. You gotta love it...

Other notables...

Happy Days... for YEARS they had a Bally Nip-It in Arnold's diner... problem was that Nip-It is from 1973, and Happy Days was based in the 50's.

And the WORST one I did see...

An absolutely SHITTY z-movie I caught on satellite called Blood Suckers (apparently originally called Vampire Wars: Battle for the Universe ... bad sign right there) based about 500 years in the future where a race of vampires try to run everything. As the main heroes walk into a bar on another planet (worst decor ever... looked like just a bunch of drapes hanging on an existing building to give it a different look) and clearly visible in one scene is a Stern Stars pinball, fully functional, displays scrolling and everything.

Don't get me wrong... I love old Sterns... but 500 years from now, I firmly doubt there will be a single one existing other than in the sub-basement of a museum, falling apart. And just becuase the theme is sci-fi doesn't make it a great prop for a sci-fi movie...

Retiring soon...

I don't know about that ... there could be some long distant future relatives of Cooke's with a basement full of them

-I saw Williams Fire in the movie "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?", and the filmmakers did it right....the music and game matched!
-I noticed a pin (I dont remember what machine it was - maybe Wizard) in the move "Knocked up"...it was in the lead girls house
-Some movie with The Rock (Duane Something) in it, where he is a pro-football player who meets his little daughter for the first time..anyways, he has a personalized pin in his condo
-I also saw Cyclone in "Lost", but at the time in the show there were actually in the present date

But, yeah...everytime I see a pin in a movie, or show, I get all excited and start to spew out all kinds of info about the machine...but nobody takes interest in my wealth of pinball knowledge.

However, I have to say, with all the pins in recent shows and movies, that pinball will regain some real popularity...its kinda like product placement for our hobby! "Oh wow, so and so has a pin in that movie...I want one now...where do I find one...they cant be all that expensive" -ah, the beginings of a new addiction, hahaha!

I recall there was a pin sticking out of Tom Cruise's closet in War of the Worlds. Because it was before I was into pinball, I didn't take note of which machine it was.

For a list of nearly every TV show and movie with a pin see here

Was it there in a previous episode? I know last week it was definitely 1977, so maybe they've just kept it on set the whole time.
