A translation would be nice.  I can only understand parts of it, like buying a house in Florida, investing a lot of money in luxury items and people making comments about prices.  Im not sure if I got the full understanding of it.

I'll attempt the teamatomics translator:

Hey Everyone, I'm the guy selling MM and some others. This is the e-mail I sent to Sylvain, or Sylvain sent to me (whichever?). I've got a lot of time and effort invested in the hobby of course, and I do everything "to the max". Those that know me know I've got about a hundred grand worth of machines in my basement. I've decided to sell a few to buy a house in Florida. To give you an idea, the machines I have are top quality, I'd let 2 or 3 CC's or Twilight Zones or Monter Bashes go by before landing on a particular machine in order to get the best ones.

I know not everyone has the means to buy the machines I have, but when I visit someone's more modest collection, I don't criticize on their collection/machines.

I enjoy a good game of T2 for example, but having played the newer, pricier games, It's clear in my mind why the prices are higher. P.S. It wasn't even "Me" that posted my games for sale on MAACA, and I noticed that "some" members have a habit of bashing sellers relentlessly (not everyone, some) ...funny how the buyers aren't subject to the same scrutiny it seems.

BTW, a sincere thank you to the admins who have done an excellent (unpaid) job to maintain/restore some order to things. (thanks for hearing me out

"Hi Sylvain"

like I said, here's the type of members you have. Personally, I have huge respect for the guys that go and get machines and bring em back so others have a chance at them. If anyone balks at the prices, let them make the trip to the states themselves, blow 6 hundred US, and come back with nothing to see how difficult getting good machines is. I've driven the distance, paid the prices, and have passed them along as reasonably priced as I can, being mindful of the time/effort I have put into them. If I'm selling them, it's to roll it back into another venture/trip/toy.

(General summary of the last leg)
Those who are constantly shitting all over the sellers for the high prices should have small wonder why there aren't a lot of sellers in Canada willing to post/sell their machines, why would you want to throw up a nice machine and get put through the gauntlet for it? It's a shame, because only a select few are able to afford the higher end machines, or large collections.

I mean, at this point, I'm trying to decide if it's even worth posting pictures? and risk simply getting trashed.

Anyway, thanks for everything.

Bob(Robert)

****NOTE FROM TEAMATOMICS**** I tried to capture the tone of this letter as much as possible and hope than in the translation, I didn't make anything sound more blunt/offensive or meaningful than it was intended, so Bob, I hope I did it justice on all fronts. *******

Thankyou Teamatomics for the wonderful translation, I finially understand the "just" of this post.  I have to admit I did have a vague idea about a seller with a number of high end machines for sale but that's about it, since I missed the original post.

To the seller I would encourage him to go ahead and post, really, I don't think you have anything to lose and everything to gain especially if you are sinserely interested in selling some of your pins.  Look at the classifieds section and notice how fast things sell on this site.  If your prices are aoutrageous than you can expect a little criticism.

If you want to pm me with a list of pins and prices, I promise not to be overly critical.  How's that?

Oh man... I will roll my tongue in my mouth a few times for this one...

OK, here goes... as politically correct as possible.

Bob, there is something I do not understand. You write me an email asking for me to remove the post on your machines for sale, claiming you hate the backlash. Hey... I understand 100%. No problem. Even I think there are too many comments thrown in the Classifieds lately. But why do what you just did? You have just put fuel on the fire you so eagerly wanted me to put out?

And another thing... you say you want to sell some pins to buy a house in Florida... that you have a 600000$ house, a Cobra, a boat, etc... and you also state the following: " there MUST be other members that are like me, and that have 150000$ worth of gadgets in their basement..." Yes, Bob, there is, but they equal less than 3% of the group. Most of us have old busted pins, and are very happy about it, so when you start listing what you have in life to show your position, it can pass a bit belittling for most people, no offense intended Bob.

Don't forget that 97% of collectors find titles like MM and CC unobtainable, and a few reactions are to be expected. That is normal. And if you think I am wrong, please check RGP and other forums. Anytime a pricey pin comes up, the seller gets bombarded with questions and comments, but in the end does sell his machine.

Remember... there are over 230 members in this group... and the pinball world isn't that big.

Now, for all you other members, I have discussed with other admin and we agree that something needs to be done. We are going to look into locking the Classifieds section... so basically, you would post your 1 ad, and if you need to post something else, like saying it is sold, you must PM us to unlock it... and all unecessary replies would automatically be deleted.

It is getting bad, guys. I have no qualms about comments... it's just that they are not in the right place, and lately, many of you seem to think that every single ad posted is fishy. Please, let us do the investigating. In 2 years, we have deleted only 1 account, and that was last week.

Also, keep this in mind... if you don't like the price, don't look at the ad!!! Personally, I have no problems with a MM at 10000$cdn. If that is the market price, so be it. But imagine if someone posted a MM at 2000$cdn... now THAT would worry me a hell of a lot more.

Like I said guys, the more you bash the local market, the less of a market there will be.

Sparky

Personally I think locking the classified section is a great idea. I think everyone should make up their own minds about a specific game up for sale. If you know the game, like the game but don't like the price, offer the seller what you can. If he/she accepts, buy it, if not wait for another one to come along.
All this bashing does not help the buyer out much but, it most probably frustrates the seller to the point that they will not post here again. That means less opportunity for all of us.

As for Bob and how much money he has....this is not the issue. He is probably proud of his collection and worked very hard to get to where he is today. It may not have been a good idea to mention the house in Florida as the reason for selling but again, not the issue. He has games for sale and has prices that he wants for them. If you have questions about the game ask. Why do we have to bash everyone about prices. If the price is too high and or you have a question, pm about it.
I would like to see more classifieds in the future...not less.

Actually, he didn't post here. I thought I was making him publicity.  I'm sure those who know me detected my cockiness about the "bargain bin" title but still, *I* did not bash him in any way. I just posted the price and the number so if anyone was interrested and didn't know "that other place", they would see it.

I wish him the best for his sales.

My statement was a general statement from a large number of past posts that tend to be negative toward the sellers. I think it is great that you posted the classified for us to see. Some of the replies were a tad negative however. I was not reffering to this add in particular.

I know this has nothing to do with anything, but I think the Rollergames and the Phoenix currently listed in the classifieds are absolutely smokin' deals. Can't believe they haven't been snapped up yet.

See... just proves that the classifieds is a 2-way street.  People note when the deals are really good, and when they are not so good.
