Finally made it out to the st.catherine street arcade that had FGY & POTC..

What memories: volume was way too loud in the arcade, couldn't heard a freakin sound the pin's made except for the bass lines.  FGY is probably the best stern (and most amusing pin) i've played since TSPP. Stewie playfield is a blast. it's a shame i couldn't hear any thing the characters were saying.

POTC on the other hand, strikes me as Tales from the Crypt/Frankenstien  meets Party Zone kinda vibe with all the plastic clutter. maybe in home environment, it would have more appeal but in a loud arcade, there's no hook (bhahaha, bad pun) to draw you in.

Amazingly enough for 2 games that hadn't been cleaned in about five weeks, flippers were very good  & all the mechanicals functional. hope the same is true next week when i return and have more of a chance to play POTC.

He was saying he had a better game to play. It was "I've got a better idea. Let's go play "swallow the stuff under the sink.""

it sucks playing that particular FGY because the volume is set so low. can't hear any of the jokes.

i had an opposite reaction to you though. i'm not into FGY that much - lawlor took too many risks in the pf design that didn't pay off. not enough of the shots feel satisfying and it doesn't feel like a lot of time went into having a coherent layout. glad he's innovating though because the mini pf is a home run. that is one very cool toy. mind you this opinion is based on about 10 games in a very noisy (i really mean it, it is as loud as a rock concert) arcade.

potc on the other hand is really great. i liked it so much that my initial reaction is to start looking for one to purchase ... but i'm worried it is too easy. i had some really long games on that one, with many extra balls and even more replays. my pinball skills are below average compared to most of you guys.

can't wait to play spider-man.

with the quality of these later sterns it is very likely i'll own one at some point.

Just came from that arcade today.  I did not get a chance to play.  Just wanted to look at the cosmetics.  The POTC is mostly clean; however the family guy is very dirty.   Someone needs to take a rag to it as the center of the PF looks as though someone with muddy shoes walked across it.  Sigh     I don't know why but Sterns always seem to get the same dirt pattern.  Oh well.

Also kept looking at that Afterburner game.  *If* I win the lottery that would be on my buy list.  Complete fluff but boy does it look cool.

Oh I am sure the registration would begin with an "N".

They didn't like it too much when the civilian owned Canadian F-86 took out the ice cream parlor in 1972.

I've played FGY a bunch and it just didn't do anything for me.  It's a decent game, but I didn't find it to be anything special.

Also I don't understand at all why people rave so much about the mini-pinball.  It's just pinball mini sized and not even all that fun to play, it doesn't even feel right, the power of the flippers are way off, shots are more reliable when backhanded then shot normally and all around I found it had a crappy feel.  I'm not a FGY fan, I don't dislike them I just find there kind of humor pointless, I don't think I'd ever own a FGY.

POTC, way to easy of a game, wouldn't last a week in my house that's for sure, first time I played it I would have made it to 4 winds, I've heard of a deeper wizard mode called I think the Pirate King or something like that but the game doesn't have enough to do.  The best thing that game has to offer is the stacking multiballs and I've slready stacked all 3.

Start Tortuga, then start the heart multiball then destory the ship and you have kracken, tortuga, and heart multiball all going at once.
