WOW..lots of MAACA representation down here.....so far Steph, Mr.Mikeman, Frosken, Spacecadet28, medvet, Ballyboy, Squidvicious, Splitskull, Mr.Hide, and Meatpopsicle are people I've ran into. I'm sure theres more here or on the way. I found the flea market a little weak this year, but I think thats because lots were afraid of the weather. All was good in that respect today, but it doesn't sound too good for tomorrow.
As for inside..WOW..lots of hi-end stuff...2 FG's, a WOF, FIVE AFM's ( one which likely has my name on it!!!), 2 JY's, 2 SS's, 2 WPT's, etc......it was pretty crowded all evening. Pricing is pretty reasonable, and quite a few SOLDS have already been posted. I still think that as per usual there will be great deals at the end on Sunday. Theres also 2 machines in the draw this year..a Fish tales and a Pinbot...
I am now to the local scene and am trying to figure out what happens around me.
Current Pins Current Arcade ------------------------------------------------------ DM Home Made "Baby" M.A.M.E. EFTLW Vision 33" JAMMA Machine TFTC MK 1,2,U3,4. JM SFA2. Golden Tee "99" Killer Instinct 1&2 1 Slot Neo Geo/5 or 6 games (In a box somewhere) 108 in 1 Neo Geo cratrige
It's in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I think you should try to get to the show at least once. It is great to try new games that you've never seen altho hearing them is almost impossible in the hall . Also a great place to pick up parts and bring back across the border yourself. There were quite a pile of games set up tonight but definitely some empty spaces from sold games so will be interesting to see what shows up tomorrow. Hopefully will get to socialize abit more tomorrow.

Oh, and if anyone down in A-town stumbles across a set of decent original manuals for a Demolition Man while you're there, would you mind grabbing them for me? (and we can settle up once you're back home)

D.
Its seen better days..I had a pretty close look at it. Its part of a bunch of machines the guy bought as a container from Europe. When you ask him to power them up, he says he has no power outside, and that he hasn't had time to look at any of them before bringing them, but that they LIKELY work!!!
I just got back from the show . I was only there for one night.
Overall, I personally was a bit disappointed.
I think this is mostly because my expectations were a little different that others.
I wasn't there to shop for a new/project pin, I was there for parts. ... moreso vid parts I remember previous Flea Markets "TEEMING" with vid PCBs and other goodies. This year there were ALOT of older pins ( woodrails , etc...) and very little (if any) parts I was interested in.
I was also fully stocked on pin supplies from previous trips so I really didn't need to buy anything.
But it was great to meet other members and play pins I don't usually see very often .
It was nice to finally meet TanMan (Tanner) and talk about our respective Duramold Multi-WMS, and hanging-out with BallyBoy (Dan) turned-out to be a completely un-planned but quite entertaining evening. (...although don't ask hin to follow GPS instructions ! )
Stuff will still roll in tomorrow and the following.
I was there on Friday from 4:15-8:30pm and again until noon today (...one night stay...).
I spent 3 hours in the Flea market this morning looking for bargains to "appear".
By noon, none had, so I figured none would.
Tomorrow (Sunday) will the desperation sales of what didn't sell today. This is where someone might score some decent deals on projects. ... but if I didn't see anything I wanted today, I very much doubt new stuff would arrive tomorrow..
Then again, I might hear about a working Robotron selling for $50 tomorrow ... who knows !
mess it's Saturday, I keep losing track working 7 days a week 16 hrs a day.
I'm "livin the dream"
Yeah by Sunday not much is going to come in for sure, but the deals will be had. Unfortuately the stuff that you want is what others want too, so it's usually gone.
Interesting pose by Meat Popsicle inside the Pac-Man. Darn, those nice cheap Vids....
Vids: Crystal Castles, Gauntlet/Gauntlet II, Donkey Kong Jr., Ms. Pac-Man, Vs. Super Mario Bros. (other Vids in storage - for now) Pins:White Water [WH2O]
Anyone need a Fish Tales??? Spacecadet28 just picked one up... at a great price too!!! He won the draw at the Allentown show!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!
Hmmmm, I was thinking of re-acquiring a Fish Tales... What do you want for your Winnings!!
Nice Jackpot!!
Dave
Here are games I would like to acquire this year, or sometime...
24 Iron Man Attack From Mars Prefer Pounded playfield! Monster Bash Prefer Pounded Playfield! Elvis Sopranos Batman Forever Spider-Man Stern Prefer Pounded Playfield!
Have these available for trade or possible sale: Corvette South Park Theatre of Magic Twilight Zone RFM/SW:EP1 Nucore Combo AFM
Just got home and managed to get Shrek into the house but too tired to take it out of the box until later! Any volunteers to help???? Had a good time - spent way too much on parts so now no excuse not to start restoring games again.
Meeting Mike and Kevin of CPR was a highlight. Great guys and super enthusiastic about the whole repro art possibilities.
Gene of IPB was there by himself this year - lots of parts as always. Left overs of first run MB playfields were there but too many clear issues to buy one. Second run almost finished and MM due to be cleared in 2-3 weeks. HE says WH2O and Fishtales are up next and then after that still in question. NGG Bud and Buzz heads are coming in a few weeks also but not the playfield . Funhouse playfields are almost completely sold out - he only had a few left and no plans to redo at this point he said. No luck finding my DE Time Machine unfortunately but scored a great deal on a full set of NOS plastics for it from Mike Pacak - his new pup needed a nail trim and a checkup for a minor problem - my profession came in handy!
Anyways the most fun as usual was meeting up with different people and getting to talk with and meet new friends and old friends (one of who was hiding really well most of Saturday ) Definitely glad to be home tho!
Good news on the MM pf's. Top priority for me right now.
Are they all cleared the same?
Mine is really decent, but on an MM I would like perfect.
Gene doesn't offer different options like Mirco did on the AFM playfields if that's what you mean (ie 1 coat, 6 coats or ceramic). These MB playfields were the last pickings from all the shows he's been to as I understand from Kim. The FH playfields while they had registration issues, nobody complained about the clearcoat quality so I assume most of the MB were good also. Didn't see registration issues altho heard a few comments about colour differences but could just be new inked playfields vs 10 yr old ones in games. I agree with you that we all want the highest quality playfields possible for any game let alone the higher priced ones but pretty well at their mercy for picking out a good one when ready unless you want to do a roadtrip to Illinois
-Yes went to scott's party. Spent most of it talking to Ed Cheung (Beaver on RGP) and Todd MacCulloch, and a few others whose names I forgot Clay was also there and answering tech questions Scott and his wife are great hosts and he has a wonderful collection. If you ever get a chance, do try to visit.
-TOTAN I saw as low as 1900. Had lots of insert damage. I have some detail photos I can post once I find a host. Not worth it at 1900 IMHO.
-No demo man manuals. I was looking for one myself.
-Games were in much better condition this year. There were a few stinkers but the ratio for good playing games this year was much better. Last year I would have said for 1 good game there were 3 decent and 5 bad. This year the I felt the ratio was almost inverse.
The flea market as others have mentioned was not full of stuff probably due to the weather. There was less 'one off' parts and bin diving but rather wood rails and complete 70's and early 80's pins. There were some deals to be made fore sure. A friend got a working whirlwind for $600. Also there was two Cleopatra (one with missing BG) going asking 325 for the two. Also saw a very nice Solar Ride for 300. There were videos but not as many as last year.
-Saw lots of shadows and Demolition mans at the show. and there was more wood rails then previous years. Off the top of my head for new-er pins. No: FH AF IJ IJ4 SWE1 (but would you really miss it?) POTOC CC Shrek unless you count medvets
YES TZ (3) MM (1) AFM (4) MB (2) Shadow (3) + 2 in flea market maybe more .. they were going quick DM 4 +flea market WH2O WW TSPP Family Guy WOF T2 Centaur .. new PF and new Plastics .. very nice Sttng (3) Creech (2) bops, jbot, pbot
Been lurking for a bit, plus taking a break for a bit (checking out for a bit *grin*) but then you come back at it
I did pass on Allentown for a crack at Rochester but I don't think I'll be doing that again. Allentown is just way more interesting and far friendlier in my opinion.

If you were in the market for a project pin, or even a nice complete plug and play working pin, A-Town was great! I could ( and should ) have bought about 3 titles. I personally felt Allentown was a very good show well worth it's reputation.

Ok, so what's all the hubbub about the "incedent" that happened on Saturday? Would like to know who/what so we can avoid any potential situations at future events.

Great to meet more of the MAACA masses both on Friday and Saturday. I enjoyed the show probably a little bit more than last year,
really good to put faces to the names. Saturday night at the Parlour didn't have the attendance of last year but still was a good diversion (the vid's and the newer DMD were the highlights but I wish that the owner of the Parlour would change the lighting upstairs as the glare was brutal .. and alot of the EM's weren't playable) .. how does one go about getting an invite to the private outing that some of you were at on Friday ?
Cheers

-No demo man manuals. I was looking for one myself.
FYI... I just placed an order with IPB through their webstore (if you want to call it that) for a NOS Demo Man manual @ $15.
(the reason I claim the webstore isn't really a webstore is there is NO form of on-line / e-payment system. You must send them a M/O for the amount owing before they will ship your stuff)

IPB was selling theirs at $25 at the show and they were repro's. I was tempted, but for me it looked too much like a copy. I decided if I hold out long enough I could find a used one in nice condition for around 15 some day. I did find an original dwho and dwho schematic for 16 for the pair though.
Let me know what you think when you get your copy. It will be nice but the binding is not the same.

If I get anything but a NOS manual, I'm seriously going to be pissed! (I feel sorry for the person on the other end of the phone if that happens.... if anyone actually answers! )
