I haven't noticed burn-in on my plasma yet (Panasonic G10), and I do a lot of gaming. Supposedly, this becomes less of a problem over time too, so if I haven't seen it yet, I probably never will.
Anyway, I was in Best Buy yesterday looking at TV's, I gotta say LCD has come a long way.. they're pretty comparable to plasma at this point, but without the annoying burn-in. Viewing angle isn't a problem any more, either.
If I had the cash though, I'd go for LED.. man, those things are nice.
Here's hoping OLED takes off.. nothing like a half inch thin TV!
Bell does too, they just haven't rolled the hardware out publicly, the back end is finished. I'm hoping were going to see the cdn version of the dishnet vip 922 soon.

No offense Johnny, but if you're an avid gamer using a plasma and you're not seeing any burn-in, you're simply not looking hard enough..
(Or you've got a magical plasma TV)
Most people don't care, and it does go away after a while (I run my anti-burn-in tools every now and again).. but it's there.

Sorry, don't know what to say, I just don't see it. How old is your TV? The newer TVs are much better, as goodsicka's link pointed out. Also, don't confuse "after-image" with "burn-in", the former is temporary and the latter is permanent. I haven't seen either.

My mistake!! I meant image retention, not "burn-in" (good to know, thanks)
That being said though, I'm still surprised you're not at least seeing image retention from HUD's and what not.
I'm using a Samsung 50" plasma that's not even a year old (though I'll have to check the mfg date). I notice image retention most when my wife watches CP24 or a show at 4:3 for hours on end.. frustrating, but she hates using the zoom and I can't stand a unevenly stretched image Thankfully a lot of stations are moving forward with the widescreen format..

I've seen image retention on my friend's awesome plasma's but so what? As long as it doesn't lead to image burn-in, why care, right? High quality plasma's have really impressed me, they're a beauty, but I am curious about the electricity bill because they do give off a lot of heat!
Samsung are very sensitive to image retention and burn-in compare to other plasma like Pioneer. Just go into the set-up menu for 30 sec and the Samsung plasma will keep the frame from the menu on the screen.
