I was selling a nice F-14 for $700. (only needed a new beacon motor)
I paid $800 for it, but needed it out fast, so was willing to take a small loss.
You offered me $500 (..for a nice, fully working f-14...),
.... and then proceeded to tell me you had a guy looking
for one who was willing to pay you $1000.

execpt for that JOUST story coming up again...let me repeat ,myself on that! i had bought the thing first from the guy for 1000$ and some body(steph) called the guy and offered 1500$ ...so the game started from there...i finally paid after pick up 2600$
Umm, no, that's not quite how the story went...
[...here we go again...]
To be fair though, I think the seller played us both.
The story, as I know it, is that the seller was originally asking $600 for it.
I called pretty early in the morning and asked if the game was still available.
He told me that yes is was, but someone told him it was worth $1000, not $600.
Looking back, this was probably BS on the sellers part.
The $1000 was the price he probably spoke to Pat about,
but all the seller told me was that he was looking for more than $600,
he never told me the game was sold.
So I offered him $1000.
He said "what if someone offers more ? ".
So I asked him how much he would want to Guarantee the game to me.
He said $1200. I said OK.
So I told him point blank, I'm giving you $1200 and it's off the market. He said OK.
I called back in the afternoon to get his exact address and to setup a meeting time for the next day.
( it was a 3hr drive ). We agreed to meet at noon.
Everything appeared to be OK.
That night, around 7:00pm, he called me to say that someone offered him $1500
and wanted to know if I wanted to pay more.
At that point I told him to f--k himself and to get bent.
I pointed out how we had a deal and he completed re-neg'd on it
and the last thing I wanted to do was to play his BS game.
I even told him that if I found out who was buying the game,
I'd tell the buyer to drop their offer back to $600 because there was no way
I was going to deal with a guy who such a blatant liar no matter
what price he would be asking, and he deserved to get a piece of his own medicine
(... I didn't know the buyer was Pat at this point, I only found out the next day... )
So for the record, my one-time offer was $1200, and this was done with the understanding
that the game was still available. I never agreed to pay one more cent,
and never got into a bidding war.
If the seller told Pat I offered $1500, that's just another one of his (the seller) lies.
As for why Pat ended-up paying $2600 for it, that's beyond me...
Like I said shortly after all this happened, and am repeating now,
the true bad guy in all this was the seller. Pat and I just got in the cross-fire.
I was bitter at the time, but have long since buried the hatchet.
So..., now that I've shot that dead horse one more time,
let's try to move beyond that...
I'm sure Pat has had many great deals, and is well-respected by many.
I'm also sure he will continue to have alot of nice pins for sale and make many people happy.
I'm sorry I re-opened this cancerous issue, (...although you can blame Adam for that...)
and I don't want people to pass judgment based on my views.
... now let's never speak of this again...
