So in the never ending insanity that is this hobby, this is the newest acquisition The fiancee was really interested in getting one so I put out some feelers here and it panned out. She is happy as hell right now with this thing and I'm sure she'll be rushing home tonight to play it as well.
Anyway, I'm not overly familiar with vids even less so familiar with DDR. So does anyone else have one, or does anyone know of any good resources to tap to find out some information on them? The thing works just fine but right now all the text is in Japanese, I'm curious to figure out if I can change that. Also want to know what it takes to update songs, and things like that.
Any info is much appreciated, pics are below and yes that is my living room
Also wanted to say thanks to Jamie23 here on MAACA, stand up guy easy to deal with, didn't even require a deposit or anything and help me load this monster into the cube van I had. Was even willing to lend a hand and help out when I got it home and it wasn't working. Seems the trip broke the CD-Rom drive in the machine, replaced it and everything was good to go. He even offered a replacement drive but I've got so many I didn't need it. So thanks again Jamie!
Good exercise. I tried to get my boys hooked on DDR for the Wii, but the interest faded fast.
Denise found the console versions were never the same (pretty standard for any arcade port) the pads are flimsy pieces of paper compared to the 200lb piece of steel that the arcade pad is. It really makes a difference to have the right equipment.
Yep, we do, what's going to be even funnier is seeing what the moving company is going to think when they come to move our house
Be careful with that.. don't assume they'll move it, be sure to ask around. A lot of them refuse to move arcade machines (just like they won't move pianos)
Own Magic, Star Gazer, Batman Forever, STTNG, Mystery Castle (project)
Gone Fairy, Secret Service, Meteor x3, Title Fight, Eight Ball Deluxe, Bone Busters Inc., Seawitch, Starship Troopers, Strange Science, Arena, Hook, Pin*Bot x2, Time Warp, Motordome, Robocop, Black hole, Jurassic Park , Wipe-Out, Pinball Pro: Challenger I, Swords of Fury, Stargate, Party Zone

It would obviously be a requirement, company that moved us in moved 3 pins and a vid. No way I'm wanting to move 16 pins, 1 show case cab and a DDR in one day while dealing with moving the rest of the house as well.
So just out of curiousity... How much does a beast like that go for these days?

My friend just bought a proper pad that connects to his PS2. Lots of fun and doesn't take up a whole room.
I would've gone for an xbox and PC compatible one so I could use the game Stepmania (it's an open-source DDR with thousands of available songs). Maybe there's a way to hook up a PC to your new cab and run stepmania

I saw those and pointed Denise to those, but she still wanted a full size cab.
*edit*
One feature I think you lose by using those pads on the console that you get on the full size arcade is the ability to dance across both pads as one player. Don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% sure, but I don't see how it would work on a console pad where it works like a charm on the arcade version.
