Great video (although the DMD is slightly chopped).

Question: why does MM command so much more money than other machines? It is fun but I don't think it is THAT much better than other pins. What's up with that?

I've asked myself that question many times then I have a good game and I "get it". It's really an incredible game with great humour. Probably the best toy in pinball...the castle that collapses, but wait there's more...it has a mot (sp ?), but wait there's more....a working drawbridge...but wait there is more....a working gate....plus you can fire the ball into the side of it to lock balls and start MB. It's just plain cool.

Now add the trolls, incredible flow, perfect theme and awesome humour. It's little wonder it doesn't sell for more.

That said, I will probably never own one as it is alot of cash. I'd rather have a LOTR and TSPP for the same money. But I still get why it sells for so much.

I mean a Ferrari is just a car, right? Why does it sell for so much, when you can buy a Porsche for less?

It is one of the last WPC machines before P2K. As we all know there are many people who consider the WPC machines the best of pinball and far better than newer Sterns.  MM was released when pinball was in a steep decline, but now it attracts the colectors who have the cash and it is a somewhat attainable and newer model, with their last cabinet design, most up to date, etc.  It has Tina Fey's voice as the princess.  I find it has some flow similarities with AFM which obvously was wildly popular.

Much more humourous than the Popadiuk designed machines.

Cactus canyon was the last and is much harder to find (900 or so units vs. 4000ish for MM)

Ten SS games...but 8 is my limit!

I am working on the whole camera thing. Basically I drop the lights in the room to have as much as possible black around the game. This improves streaming transfer rates to my knowledge as black does not use up much in the way of data with video compression. The next aspect I am playing with is having the V that is formed from the flippers tucked into the far bottom corner as tightly as possible so as to show the gameplay at the flippers but really cut out any non pf areas and maximize the window space. The top then naturally becomes the DMD. The down side is I am shooting with a standard camera not an HD video camera so I don't believe (at least I haven't located it on my camera yet) I can shoot true 16:9 format although I do get good resolution.

One thing I also found last night that takes an entire step out of posting in HD to Youtube is to use Windows Movie Maker. The latest version has a button to post to Youtube directly from the program. If you set aspect ratio to 16:9 and send it does the compression and sends it directly to the site in HD format. It's pretty slick because if the transfer gets interrupted it will resume where it left off. This is a big factor when you are a looking at two hour upload times. Just click and walk away and let the software do it's job. If for some reason the internet craps out, it will resume where it left off.

I don't know why it's so expensive other than to go back to the supply/demand argument, but as a whole package it is very appealing.

Like Duane said - it's the whole package. All I can tell you is that it is my ultimate favourite game of all my collection for a thousand reasons (ignoring collectability) and is the only game in my collection that has NEVER been folded or lent out in my 6 years of collecting. And I still play at least one game every night on it.

No regrets on getting it and it will never leave or be folded in my house .
