Hey all,

I need  a bit of help for my 4MBC. Probably minor, but I am a bit new to EMs. My game plays great, except that since I moved it from one end of my gameroom to the other, now it only plays 1 ball per player, then shows GAME OVER. I even have instances where it kicks out the first ball and shows GAME OVER right away, or even sometimes starts a game (resets the reels), but shows GAME OVER before the ball comes out.

Any ideas?

Trough switch? Game Over Interlock relays?

I tried switching from 3 to 5 ball config, and it had no effect.

Could be a few things, maybe not that simple:

- gummed-up player unit
- misadjusted/dirty/broken contact on one of the game over, reset or tilt interlock relays
- short (such as solder splash) on a contact stack - could be difficult to find !
- problem with slam tilt switch

I fixed Gus' 4MBC a few years ago - definitely not a pin for newbies, it is a very complex one.
But patience and proper procedures (and schematics) will resolve this.

Bonne chance !
- Sylvain.

First one I doubt... it is VERY clean.
I also doubt the third as it happened after I moved it, and I haven't soldered.
I will check the second and fourth...

Shouldn't this be in the "tips and how-to" section?

I'm offended....PM sent.

Just kiddin', Sylvain is the man when it comes to EM tips! Good luck Sparky.

Sylvain, how do you avoid solder splashes aside from the "be very careful".   I saw tinyrodent made a basic paper based solder-catcher under the area.

I'm wondering if you always remove the playfield when solder after years of experience.   Saving 5-minutes and soldering in the machine, might cost you hours if a solder-splash cause you to start looking for a short...

So far, I've done the soldering in the machine, but I think I'm pressing my luck.

Yeah that's what I try to do - but its not 100% - I had one splash that missed the towel but fortunately landed on the bottom of the cabinet on the wood...

What I mean by gummed-up is when a pawl or lever is not moving on
a stepper unit, often due to old grease or WD40 oil that has 'solidified' !

Nothing to do with how clean it is.

Cheers,
- Sylvain.

I often use an old rag or towel, gently placed on the area under, when in 'risky' locations.

I know... I meant that everything has been cleaned and re-greased. No gummy crap anywhere.

I use a 50-cent sheet of craft cardboard from dollar stores. Wide coverage, and recyclable!
