Just thought I'd share... After collecting the networking gear for RFM long before I actually owned one has finally paid off. I actually took some of my limited spare time today and added my RFM to the on-line tourney. I have to say it was dead simple, and I was honestly expecting way more grief given everything Necro went through to get his on-line. Now to find some more spare time and fix a bunch of dead switches, and then go log some scores! (And for anyone that may be interested, once I purchase the Nucore software I will be selling off my complete RFM CPU with the NIC installed and working.) D |

Biggest issue I had was not getting the firmware upgrades and Askey telling me he put my IP address in when he didn't. When you are told things should be working with what you have in place you waste waaay more time thinking it's something you did and trying all kinds of illogcial configurations only to find out you were given bad info.
I think I pretty much covered them all in my posts.
IP tables issues. reprogramming the reader additional ram requirements router config.
Not at all well documented previously. |

To be honest I didn't even look up your old post, just recalled that you had a heck of a time getting everything running smooth. I actually setup my wireless bridge earlier in the week, which went flawless and works really really well. (I now have a great internet connection in my basement, WOOOHOO!) All I did today was toss the NIC in the case, enter all of the IP addresses, update the game software and away she went.
I haven't installed the bar code reader yet, as I need to make the 5V supply harness. (which I'll need to locate some more spare time in order to complete)

You had to put in the IP tables script as well, the original code only allows for one hop before it kills the packet. Using the internet your going to have multiple hops which is the main and only reason for the router. One of my issues was using a different Linksys router with DDWRT that supposedly had IP tables support, but it was the DD-WRT micro version which if you read the fine print has "limited" IP tables support. Limited is not defined anywhere but what I found out the hard way is that particular command was not one of the supported functions. |

Yup. I didn't bother messing with different routers, just picked up a WRT54GL when one popped up on sale for $49 and everything worked as it was supposed to. (I loaded the IP tables right after I confirmed the bridge was working as it should)
