That looks amazing!

Global VR...Starburst had it...not sure if they still do. They would probably rent it for a not cheap price no doubt.

Ten SS games...but 8 is my limit!

I have ZERO interest in any of the speakers, I've never really been into listening to people talk about this kind of stuff it just bores me to tears.  I may just buy a ticket and show up for the portion at Gerald's place just to support the cause tho.

To be absolutely honest, no, for a couple of reasons.   Gerald is an approachable enough guy that if I really had a question that I needed to ask him I'd just ask him.  The other reason is the how's and whys of why people do things has never really interested me, it's the same reason I don't think I'll ever go to Expo, I don't care why Steve R made one game a certain way and put this toy in that spot on a PF, or his inspiration for the High Speed PF, those things have never interestead me.

Playing the games, enjoying the games, and competing that's what is important to me.  As an example I'd much rather listen to Steve Weibe talk about how to play Donkey Kong over listening to Shigeru Miyamoto talk about how he made Donkey Kong.  Or I'd rather listen to Lyman Sheats talk about playing pinball over Gary Stern talking about making pinball.

But I'm all for supporting the local hobby which is why I'll end up buying a ticket anyway.

Wouldn't a better example be Lyman Sheats talking about designing/writing pinball software vs playing pinball?

For me, everything about this hobby is fascinating. I love hearing about the history, personalities, design, artwork, programming, and playing.

I think that in this case, just talking about what a pinball machine IS is good enough. Most kids under 12 don't even know what a pinball machine is.

Maybe if he talked about how he comes up with the rules and things like that, but it's just my personal preference.

I think Gerald speaking is a great thing, it does nothing but add positive exposure to his current museum project which is of course a greatthing.  It's just not something I've ever been able to listen to and hold my interest.

Ha, on Jeopardy last night they had high school students competing and one of the clues was "Name this precursor to arcade games", and then played EM pinball noises. Yes, they guessed correct, and quickly too.

Pinball is ingrained in Western culture. Even if kids have never played (or seen) one, they at least know what they are and most likely have played a video version of it. Remember, Space Pinball was included with Windows XP.

Thanks for the kind comments. Originally, these guys wanted to host the whole thing at my place, but after some discussion, they decided to go to another location. I don't know which games i'm going to bring, but there will be some pins in there( even though they don't really want any, something about space). I don't know what i'm going to talk about yet, but I guess I may talk a bit about this whole museum project, my own experience with collecting/playing, and generally just a big plug for this whole museum project. I really want to bring the Hercules, it is the first thing that people make a beeline to when they come to the shop. When I turn it on, and they see the cueball pop out, they all say the same thing: Holy f$#@%, is that a cueball?

I hope there is someone there from Rockstar games.I would be interested to chat with the lunatics that put some of those games together, like warriors and grand theft auto.

Guess I'm talking about the importance of history in games? Sounds like a good candidate for death by powerpoint!

I went down and saw the location yesterday, conveniently located on 100 A Ossington( Down the street for the Queen Street Mental Health centre)

It is not my event, some other guys, but after 6-10 There will be a free play on all the machines I bring. I have been buying up quite a few newer machines as of late, and they will all be there. They are charging 15$ to come for the whole day affair, but if you are just interested in the games, give me a call, or show up at the door and ask for Gerald, i will see what kind of a deal i can swing for you.

PS It will also be a LLBO affair( pay for your own drinks), so you can play games, drink your face off, throw up all over my games, then leave without saying anything, and blame it all on someone else! Oh yeah, then say on the board, how it sucked! ha ha

Come out and give me some support, I would appreciate it.

For your reference, my phone # is 416 759 9608

thanks

Isn't the event centered around "indie" developers? (That's the impression I got from the website). That means no Rockstar, unless some employees are attending of their own interest.

It's all fun 'n games until you run out of space.

I just returned from this little event. It was a pretty good turnout, around 150 pers. I have been a little sick this whole week, so wasn't really excited about loading a bunch of games up, but I was happy with the outcome. The last year or so of driving all around North America, buying stuff, selling it, meeting people, getting told to f%$ off, and telling others to f&%% off, all came to a head tonight. This was my first real glimpse into the reaction from the general public to seeing , and playing all these machines. I have to tell you, it was positive. I realized tonight that this goal is just around the corner, and to see the enjoyment that a lot of people were having, and there excitement, justified a lot of the sacrifice and BS I have put up with for quite some time.I gave a little talk as well, and if any of you were there( I did mention maaca during my presentation) , you could see that I put it together in about 3 mins, but it was well received. I made quite a few contacts, including ubisoft, and a guy from fan 590 who interviewed me( He had to wait for me to finish smoking , ha ha). Anyhow, I can't wait to finally open up as a museum, and see the joy that people had tonight, on a daily basis. ( While I sit behind a counter, eating all the "retro candy" i'm supposed to be selling). I also owe a lot of gratitude to many of the members on here, and I thank you for  all your help and support, sincerely.

I have put up a couple of pics too
