I was in the middle of a game on my IJ and the display suddenly became very weak, showing only parts of the screen.

It was working fine before and didnt show any signs of getting weaker.

Opened backbox and reseated the connectors, its now completely dead !

Any ideas where to look ?

First check the fuse then measure the power supply voltage.

Both fuses on the DMD controller board tested fine (pulled them to make sure).

J604-6 (tested +5V correctly)
J604-7 (tested +12V correctly)
J604-8 Brown wire (tested only +8V while manual says that its supposed to be +62V)

I tested all 3 at the DMD  and at the board and they tested the same at both places. Power seems ok from power driver board to Dot Matrix controller board since the power tested fine on all 4 pins (both +5V and both +12V).

Here's the section to read:

Search for heading "Testing DMD Voltages". There are several suggestions for diagnosis and repair. Sounds like possibly Q3, D3, or the trace under R9. However you didn't mention the -125V and -113V - if those are no good you may need a complete rebuild of the HV section.

Sounds like your going to need a WPC HV kit installed with that reading. Probably the zener is blown for that voltage but best to do the entire section at once.

I got the "kaput" part but I was thinking more German than franco when I read that.  

To be honest I am too lazy to translate and then don't offer any further advise in case is was already covered in French.
