Could be many things, but appears to be a fairly simple fix:

- broken wire at coin switch
- bad coin switch (or microswitch)
- bad connector/pin on MPU
- Corrosion on MPU
- cold solder joint at switch matrix header pins on MPU
- bad component (chip) on MPU

Do you have the manual/schematics for it?

Good luck !
- Sylvain.

Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for
one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!

Sylvain saying that,  is like a brain surgeon saying it's a simple operation...

For someone less familiar with pins, an MPU or a switch matrix is like Chinese soup ....

(...been there...  )

Too bad I am not in Montreal (or that you are not in Ottawa !).

I do housecalls now and then, when the little spare time permits,
and also take some machines in for repairs too, when people are
not in too much of a hurry.

The challenge with your game is that very few people are experienced
in the troubleshooting & repairs of GamePlan (but they are no more
difficult to fix than Gottlieb or Williams - but certainly more difficult
than Bally or Stern from this era)... Also, there is more limited info
about them on the Web, and less parts available, compared to the
other big manufacturers of that time (Bally, Williams, Gottlieb & Stern).
However, most electronic parts are still available. The processor board
(MPU) is notorious in those games for corrosion around the rechargeable
battery, which may cause connectors, traces and component problems.

That is why I had mentioned to check the wiring first in my post above,
without the need to know or perform surgery, in case you might be able
to figure it out yourself. Also try reseating the connectors on the boards
(with the machine OFF).

I am sure there are talented and experienced people around
Montreal and Laval who will eventually help you out.

Bonne Chance !
- Sylvain @ Ottawa.
