The persons who make this top 100 seem to know very little about 1980's pins in my opinion. 90% are 1990 and up. 1980's were the best years for pinballs in my opinion. I like very few modern pins. What do you think ?
i will agree with you to a point on that. there was alot of great playing games in the 80's i played alot of them. but the rule sets didnt get too much deeper till the 90's. and since alot of the 80's games are no longer in circulation, the 90's pins tend to come out on top. so it is those 2 factors in my opinion which make the top 100 not seem fair. in the future, it might shift with Stern being the only manufacture left, and making games easier for novice and pro. kind of a mixed feeling of both 80's and 90's games together as far as rule sets go. all this is just my opinion so it is all how i interpret this.
Who the hell came up with that mess!!!! South Park #36, better than BSD at 41????? Popeye save the Earth and Rocky and Bullwinkle WAY ahead of the classic Black Knight???? NBA Fastbreak 20th with Demolition Man (severely underated) 46th???? Flash Gordon nowhere to be seen???? No Xenon???? Haunted House and Black Hole not on the list, but Twister and Super Mario Bros is?????
While I don't agree with the list, I think the 90s have proven to be the best years for pinball. I have collected ALOT of games over the last six years. I started with a Gorgar and Evil Kneivel, then High Speed, Cyclone, Time Machine, etc. eventually getting my first DMD pinball -- TZ. Once you have played the more modern pins, there simply is no going back. Seriously, can you compare a CV or TZ to a Black Knight? No contest.
While the 80s produced some great pins, I think the 90s rule. Also, I enjoy the later 80s games much more than the early 80s games. I prefer Whilwind, Banzai Run, Earth Shaker, Taxi, Cyclone, Diner, Elvira and the Party Monsters, etc. to Black Knight, Xenon, etc. Each to his own. As Rudy would say "It's only pinball!". And I do have a Gorgar in my collection and a few 80s pins
Personally I wish everyone loved those early 80s machines, then the prices of the 90s might be more reasonable
Every 'Top X' list is 'somewhat garbage'...and should be taken with a grain of salt
Everybody have their own opinion...
Some prefer old ones, some prefer new ones...some Wms, some Gtb...
The only problem I found with the 80s pins is that they have one or two cool features or modes, and that's it.
The newer machine have many modes which keeps you more alert and the 'target' changes (i.e. TZ: gumball, piano, slot, etc.)
I've had 70s, 80s and 90s machines...they all have 'a little thing different'...it also depends on how much coin you can spend on the hobby as well as your skill level.

Current 'working' lineup: ( 2 ) Flipper Football, The Shadow
Gone but not forgotten: ( 22 ) City Slicker, Dirty Harry, CFTBL, Big Shot, Big Guns, Black Rose, Judge Dredd, Indianapolis 500, Big Game, BS: Dracula x 2, Beat the Clock, Fire!, F-14 Tomcat, Getaway, Breakshot, Cheetah, Meteor, El Dorado, Nitro Ground Shaker, Chexx Hockey, Slugfest
Man, one of my fav 90's pins isn't even on the list. But it's a Data East, so that shouldn't be too much of a suprise. I thought Theater of Magic would have scored higher though.
