Little expensive for me to find the angle on my PF, ...

+1 but would definitely take the guess work away.

I had my eye on this gem: http://pinballmagic.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=13. Although I'm not sure what the shipping would cost.

Borrow mine sometime, you only use it once to set a pin and then the tool sits and sits.  If we could figure out how to get it back and forth you can use it.

There's a great app for the iphone (iLevel?) that works as an incline meter. (Not that I have an iphone, nor am I a promoter of Mac products.)

Just an observation. They call it an angle of incidence meter.

The gear is going to be the main factor using a level. The angle of incidence is a measure between the center longitudinal line of the fuse and the center line of the chord of the wing.

Using this in this manner looks like an instrument to measure the AOA (angle of attack) during takeoff since it is being used while sitting on the gear. I.e. chord line to relative airflow. To get your angle of incidence using this I believe your going to have to level the longitudinal axis of the aircraft first. I see you can zero it on an angle but you need to know when the centerline of the fuse is level and how much off level the gear is going to put it. If your gear isn't even it would throw off your measurements.

From the pinballmagics website....

Quoted Text
Games made before 1990 are usually 6 degrees.

Games made after 1990 are usually 6.5 to 7 degrees.

You're right.  Just clipped it on for the purpose of taking a picture.  You'll notice it's also clipped to a control surface (aileron), which is also not the correct way to use it - the assembly is too small for this plane as it's not long enough to span the root.  In most cases the inclinometer is used to ensure the AOA on both wings are equal rather than being overly concerned with their actual AOA.  Washout can also be checked etc. etc.

I just thought it would be a neat pin tool as well since I've purchased other similar digital measuring devices that never really worked very well in the past.

The importance of AOA is highly over rated. Who needs lift?   Isn't that what the afterburner's for?

On the same subject, here is one that I use with my woodworking tools and works great for pinballs too.
