OK, I'm probably going to regret asking this, but what game would you guys choose if you could only have one?

ATTACK FROM MARS    or    MONSTER BASH

I'm leaning more toward MB as I haven't seen too many of these for sale, plus I just loved playing Medvet's game a few weeks back, this one  just sorta fell in my lap and seems like a fun machine.

AFM seems to be a standard collection/player machine but I love it just as much. It's a great game and very funny humour wise. Both are great titles...just really too hard to decide....argh.

Good part is in the end I'm hopefully going to get both machines, it's really just the order that they come home that's going to be different, hmmmm. Yeah, I'm a spoiled bastard.

AFM for me too; maybe heavily prejudiced because my wife likes it - so if/when the $$$ & opportunity line up we'll be owning one...

Phil.

Would you rate AFM over Spiderman? They seem very similar in shots.

Thanks for your take Tuborg! I figured you would be getting a AFM sooner or later....

I like them both,I play them both.I think MONSTER BASH has the slight edge over ATTACK FROM MARS for the fact kids and adults like it equally.I just got an AFM and as a player it's a fast game compared to MB.

AFM.

MB is too easy, Monsters Bash is really easy to achive and gets old.  Yes there is the Monsters of Rock mode as well, but the modes are pretty much the same.

AFM has allot more to it, 3 diffrent multiballs, Martian, Total Anihilation, Main Multiball.  A fun video mode, strobe multiball is really fun in a darker type room, and a more complex and involving rule set.  I'm not a huge fan of AFM but I find it more enjoyable to play then MB.

The question is: would you still go by that order or buy AFM first if it was to be done again (i dont even know if you got MB first actually

I'm getting the AFM vibe.... I definately "feel" both games. I just wondered what the general population of MAACA readers would say.

Let's change the direction of this thread....

AFM         or      Stern SPIDERMAN

Now what do you guys say?

Yep. I got AFM first, but then again I wanted MB more than MM and I ended up with it before MB.

A list games in decent shape you have to buy when they are available. Not when your ready.

Spiderman and that's before playing the new 2.0 roms. AFM is a great game, but it's not very deep. I really enjoyed it when I had it, but, for me, it got old after awhile. Spiderman seems to have more depth with similar layout and feel.

I've played both games extensively and studied the ruleset and I would say AFM over MB.  AFM is a much more dynamic and fast game than MB with better and more challenging set of rules.  It's definitely harder.
MB is not bad, probably a top 15 game for me, but AFM is a top 5.  For what it's worth, most pinball ranking sites usually have AFM ranked 2nd to 4rth overall....
As for Spiderman, it does seem like a fun game but don't have enough time on it and haven't taken a deep dive on the ruleset yet to form an opinion.

Gotta agree with Enzo on this one.

Seriously. MB is a fun game with great art, quotes, animation and music and very popular with friends. However, if you are a very good player then it is not as challenging as the others. However, you can't beat it for theme in my mind. Luckily I'm so-so in the skill level so I can thoroughly enjoy my MB without thinking it's too easy

AFM has also got theme. voice and art with cool toys. It is a very fast game and I love mine after finally finishing the restoration (well, except for the cab touch-ups)

For Spiderman, I'd go for the BSM or add the shaker to a red as it definitely adds to the overall enjoyment. I never really put much stock in people who say games are re-dos of others but I've got to say that I really find AFM and BSM almost identical in feel. The funny thing is that I actually will go to my BSM more than my AFM due to gameplay but I still would take AFM for the overall package first if that makes sense? If and when I become a better player then overall package may lose importance to pure gameplay and rules etc.

Can you still get a BSM NIB?   What was the original price difference?   Is it still around $5000?

Great looking game with the mirrored backglass, chrome and black.   Very nice looking - and only 500 made - and Stern promises not to make more

From what I've played of Spiderman, it wouldn't be one I'd buy, Stern has better titles. MB & AFM are both awesome pins.

In the house:
Gottlieb Haunted House
Williams Black Knight

Gone:
Williams Pinbot
Williams White Water
Data East Jurassic Park
Stern Big Game
Gottlieb Force II
Williams Laser Cue
and some others ....

Video game free since 2005!!!
