I see Wayne is looking at this as a business...which is what it should be when a significant amount of cash is being put out. Any business must be viewed as viable from the get go.

On the other hand, if this is a hobby that you are so passionate about that you want to share it and it is not going to be your primary income things are different. I am sure even Marvelous Marvin isn't looking to drain his savings to share his passion with the world. If it turns out that the world where you present yourself doesnt quite share the same sentiment on the same scale, you must protect your financial A#@. This is a limited market, that's very obvious otherwise there would be all kinds of retro arcades around.

I dont know about a full time business, but I personally would do like the Church and get an industrial unit with hopefully reasonable rent and try to sustain on the specialized market that it is. One price entry fee, limited hours, group venue rates, pop, chips. You get the gist.

Ten SS games...but 8 is my limit!

Business or museum, I consider it awesome that GJD is doing this. I am even looking into donating a machine or two and fix up whatever he needs fixed in order to help the war effort.

Trust me guys... you Ontario guys are lucky to even have a few machines around to play. Hopefully you won't end up like Quebec... a virtual black hole for arcades. It is very sad here... We here all envy you.

Thanks for all the replies guys, it helps. I just want this thing to have some longevity, not to crash and burn right away. As far as zoning is concerned, if I set up in an industrial area, it is not an issue. The issue comes when I attempt to set up in a commercial zone. Although I am confident there will be support from the hobbiest community, I am not depending solely on that. I was surprised to see that there at least 46 individual streams of revenue that one could pursue in regards to an undertaking like this, but I have narrowed it to 10. I also have 2 partners, so theoretically , if we keep costs down ( Like we have done thus far), we could sustain it indefinitely with our existing salaries, even if we didnt make dime one. However, that will not be case.Any replies I get on here, are in my opinion, an important part of the viability study, and to me  it is extremely viable. See you all soon ....at the museum. PS I scored an I robot this morning as well.
