I am in Burlington and felt nothing at all. My wife was at home in Mississauga and she says it felt like a plane flying low overhead everything shook in the house.

If I was playing pinball, I guess the game would have tilted.

The folks here tried to say it was a military helicopter ... ya right ... the windows flexed a fair bit

Ha ha. Do you work at the button of a runway?

I missed the whole thing.

Felt it pretty strong in Brantford.... the walls were moving!  It happened in the middle of a meeting... my chair started rocking back and forth - couldn't figure out why.... until I looked up at the walls...  very cool, yet scary at the same time.  I'd like to know how strong it was in Brantford, ON.  Seams pretty far away from Ottawa.  I wouldn't think it should have been that strong!

Oh well.... real life education.

Felt pretty strong in downtown Ottawa.  A lot of people were asked to evacuate.  The security personnel didn't know what to do in the event of an earthquake.

I was in L.A. for the July 2008 earthquake.  It measured 5.5 as well but based on the reports it seems to have been stronger.  I was in a bank in the L.A. area at the time and the floor moved so rapidly beneath me that it was difficult to keep my balance, almost like surfing.   The signs hanging from the ceiling were swinging wildly and stuff fell off the shelves.    Did today's quake appear to have this effect closer to the epicentre ?

I was on the 12th storey at work. Yup it was more of an intnese up and down accompanied by a relatively loud rumble (as the building shook). The intense part lasted about 3 - 5 seconds followed by the building shaking/moving for a minute after that. It was a quick adrenaline rush but I will never forget the looks on some of the peoples faces.

I was asleep (trying to shake a stupid sinus infection) here in Waterdown but hubby said the glass doors on our tv stand shook and moved out and he thought it was another blast gone wrong  (they were doing blasting on the road near here a week back, used too much explosive and actually sent the dampening mats up 15 feet in the air which knocked out power and cable for the day).
