As one of several owners of this game on MAACA,
I can say that , for me...,  it's an awesome game.

It's not a very difficult or challenging game, but the "eye candy" is phenomenal
and the humor and sound bites are probably the best of any pin.

I really really like it, and it's the pin that gets most noticed when I have friends over.
(...and I've got TSPP, LOTR and TZ !  ).

If you're looking for a "serious", deep,  pin, ...this ISN'T  it.
If you're looking for fun, easy game, you'll love this one.

( I find it provides a nice contrast to my "serious" pins like TZ and LOTR ).

As for cost, I personally think these are under-valued because
they don't get the love they deserve...

You should be able to find a nice one for $2500 CDN.
Off-route (ie. dirty, not perfect) games can probably be had for $1800-$2000.

Lastly, the Pin2000 system is a dream to work on...
You can take out the ENTIRE playfield in about 3 minutes
and easliy fix/replace anything that would otherwise be hard to get to.

It's a keeper for me...

Cheers,
Steph

Its really a love/hate pinball.  Their seems to be two divisions on it.

Me personally?  I like mine.  Its fun and its different. It also seems to get the first attention to pin newbies as well.  I would only suggest buying one if you already had other pins (which you do).  The game is really not for everyone.  You need to find one and play it.

Next time you are back in the neighborhood, drop by and check it out.

I really like it and have often thought of getting one. I really like the video/pinball combination. RFM has excellent humour and I find the game play just plain FUN.

In terms of price, I think Steph is pretty bang on, although they can be had in the $2K range now. The prices, for RFM and SW:E1, have really dropped in the last few months.

I know this isn't a Revenge from Mars, but here's a SWE1 that didn't receive a single bid and the opening was only $1,850:

I know SW:E1 doesn't get alot of love, but that's alot of game for the money. Like most, I prefer RFM and seeing the price drop in recent months has certainly tempted me.

Good luck,
Duane

I like it and want one, it is on my "want" list, but mainly for the novelty and eye candy.  I don't expect it to hold my personal interest for that long.   It is quite humourous and was well done.  You can tell that the rule set is thin and, if it was your only pin, the novelty will wear off fast.  I suggest playing it before buying it for sure, it's one of those very "personal taste" kinds of machines.

I personally like RFM better than SWE1, but I haven't played either extensively (in fact for the first time last Friday).  However, Pinball 2000 is so unique that people will gravitate towards it because it's NOT your traditional pin.  In the one I played at the "Church", the ball hung up a lot (but it may not have had much of a slope).

[Thanks go to Squid for introducing me to the "try before you buy" concept.  It convinced me to totally knock TOM off my want list, and now I really, really regret not getting a Banzai Run when I had a chance.....     ]
