At some point you might have to get some sleep and send the board to Johns Jukes or Coin Op
Cauldron, etc.

Someone on RGP probably wi help.

I've posted on RGP, haven't gotten much help their either which doesn't bold well since usually I can find my answers there

Yea I thought of that as well, problem is Sega's with the large DMD aren't exactly common, I'm the only person in TOPL with one and the only other person I know with a Frank is Acientgames out in Peterbrough with as an hour and 1/2 drive away.

Sorry Adam.  I don't have my Frank anymore.  Its now in Cambridge.

Took a video of exactly what is happening and what I've done:

What better way to troubleshoot something then to show people exactly what is wrong.

I believe Saga uses a separate processor for the DMD and it would appear to be locking up from what I am seeing. Like I mentioned before the 5V supply appears to be a potential problem. Have you tried swapping the ribbon cable as the two communicate via it. Also the CPU on the DMD itself may be faulty.

I don't know this system all that well but I suspect the game continues to run due to the MPU continuing to operate and the DMD CPU either through getting currupt data calls due to a bad cable or PIA results in having an issue where it stops functioning or it's simply a DMD CPU malfunction internally.

I don't think it's the display quite frankly unless it loads down the supply to the point of it locking up the processing functions.

Wanted to close the loop on this

Dave suggested after everything else I've done to just try and reseat the ASIC chip on the DMD controller board.

So I pulled the ASIC chop on the board and reseatted it and was able to get through 3 games without a single freeze.

So after 6 BR's 3 connectors, 16 or so pins, and 3 PIA's/ sockets end of the day all I needed to do was reseat the ASIC chip
