I've got an Elvira and the Party Monsters pin and have noticed that during gameplay, not at any specific time but it does seem to happen when I'm having a longer game, it will make a very loud popping noise(best I can describe the noise would be the same sound a balloon makes when you pop one). And it's only a one time pop but it happens enough for me to post on here asking for help and it's very loud and it worries me. I'm new to pins and don't have any experience taking them apart. Any thoughts?

Sounds to me like the knocker.  Its letting you know that you won a free credit.

Its supposed to be loud as people would walk away from the game in a noisy arcade so they needed something that would get peoples attention.

The knocker is located in the upper left of the back box.

You can disable it if you want ... put foam at the strike point to muffle the sound somewhat .. or make sure that the replay or free credit settings are difficult enough that the frequency does not bother you as much

Yes, people often describe the Free Play Knocker as an almost "electric" arc popping sound.  Even when some of my machines do it while others are playing it (particularly those set with a low free game setting), I immediately swing around thinking maybe a transistor just blew!

Sounds like that could be it, it is set to free play and i'm sure the settings are on easy. It seems to happen when I hit a big score i.e. shot the million or 3 million etc.

The Knocker is one of the main goals in Pinball, Don't disable it, If anything, change the coil sleeve and plunger and make it louder! hehehe  It is all about the Knocker!!     And be sure to yell "Replay" everytime it goes off, no matter where you are in the House!
