Mine works like a top. Honestly Phil you were probably working with a piece of Goucho crap. The game gives me zero grief.

Me. Without a doubt. I wouldn't even buy one for a grand for my own use (excluding resale of course). Cool little toys and all, but I find that it has too much flash, and it takes away from just playing. The neon light drives me nuts.

In fact, the ONLY thing I liked about it was where the display was. No need to raise your eyes during gameplay to se what is going on on the DMD. Clever.

I personally always found CV to be like the drag queen of pinball. Lots of flash, entertaining for a bit, but gets on your nerves if in your face too long.

Just my 0.02$

And at those prices, no FRICKIN way will I ever own one, even with cash in hand. I can name A LOT of DMDs I would get before that one, even some on the list mentioned before. with 5000$, I would get 2-3 other pins together like Demo Man, TFTC, GNR, JP and the likes, some System 11 pins, or another high-end Williams or a newer Stern. Hell, I would rather get 3-4 Gottlieb DMDs together before getting a CV. I rather play Rescue911 than CV.

Again, before you CV-lovers start bashing me, this is MY opinion. Respect it, like I respect yours.

Good luck on your find... I have seen some available.

Wait a minute, are you saying pinball isn't frivolous and flashy?

Ok I am going to try and flip some burgers off the core of my CV's transformer, just to prove to you that pinball isn't frivolous and flashy but in fact quite practical.

Sparky, I understand what you are saying. I find TOTAN to be an extremely beautiful game visually, a real piece of art. Fact is, I don't really love the way it plays.

ANother one is Adams Family...everyone loves that game it seems, except me.

Perhaps if I could get a really nice one for a good price it would grow on me.

TAF has a few things going for it. First it really was the first pin that started to really tap into the power of the WPC architecture and secondly it had Thing. For some reason players went nuts over Thing. It also has a regal appearance to it with it's colour scheme and the cloud topper which is why I can see people wanting to plant it in their gameroom. I still think it's a very good game, but it was superceded IMHO by other games that tapped into the WPC System even more.

When it was released it probably was in many ways another leap in development. Earlier WPC's IMHO really didn't make full use of the system. Rudy's "Pin-Mation" set it apart from other pins but had FH had the depth that later WPC's achieved it IMHO would have been one the all time greats (not that it isn't pretty damn fine game anyway).

I hear ya and I guess it was big during a phase that I wasn't playing so there is no sentimental value to me. I was big time negative on TZ at first but it has grown on me quite a bit .. but no matter how often I go back to TAF it just doesn't do it for me

I would have probably kept it hadn't someone waived a deal out that was hard to refuse for it. Still have a half decent TAF pf here that I hold onto. Unlikely anymore but if I find another one with a blown out pf I would still consider putting the work in to do another one. Makes me think subconsciously I still would consider owning the game since I hold onto this pf. I just don't have a massive amount of motivation to go looking I guess which also speaks to me on how much I really like it.

I always thought the best thing was the playfield magnets.  A little more interesting than spinners (ala Whirlwind, NGG, Fireball....).

The thing that stands TAF apart as well, is the balanced gameplay.  Easy for a novice and fun for a pro.  Of course, for anyone really serious... touring the mansion is not that hard (I guess that is why we have LOTR and TSPP).

What's this Gottlieb DMD thing? Look Gottlieb had a ton of credibility when it came to EM's but com'mon if your going to bash a bunch a WPC's call a spade a spade. I believe what your in love with is called "Premier" and they unfortunately have NONE of Gottlieb's EM credibiity.

It must be the purple curly ramps that have hypnotized him. Next thing he will start barking like a dog. Man that's some crunk juice crazy talk goin on. lol.

Where is Alienagent to provide the list of games your interested in when I need him?

CV is a great game, but I agree not sure it commands what it sells for. A mechanical nightmare for operators, but great in a home enviorment, mine is also reliable after spending 20 hours restoring it. I highly reccomend it. All that flash and the sounds make the pin.

and for Gottliebs: , not worth talking about.

It has been scientifically proven that light is faster than sound. That is why some people seem brilliant........until they open their mouth!

For the price, I am going to agree with Sparky on this one.  Necro, the Premiere DMDs are built like battleships, the DMDs run with a lower voltage (so they last longer).  I'm having great fun with mine.  I sorta like CV, and am definitely attracted to it, but each time I play it I think, hmmm... do I really want this one, or is it the hype?  I have to admit when I first played it I loved the lightshow, the voices and the music.  Gameplay, jury's still out.  Maybe you have to own one to appreciate its levels.
