What would I have to do and be careful of?  Has anyone done this? He will professionally packaged and ship.  How do I protect myself from a scam?

He goes by Peter z email is paolos3def@gmail.com.  He would perfer a bank transfer but I cannot do that( it makes me as nervous as a not using a condom with a $5 hooker).  This guy might be legit but how would I know?

The guy's email address and the fact that he wants a bank transfer scream "scam" to me... steer away.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  

Trace his IP from the email header if you like..

Been there, done this.. and failed miserably.  I may as well have lit ten $100 bills on fire.

I always dreamed about getting a newer Fruit Machine flown here from the UK but never quite figured out whether it was possible by air or if it had to be sea cargo and jsut how complicated (and costly) it might be.

Depending on what you're shipping from the UK, the shipping could kill the deal.  You have to be absolutely sure that you're not dealing with a scammer.  No deal is too sweet if you're just throwing it away.
