Description (revised) Seller assumes all responsibility for listing this item.
Williams 1977 Hot Tip Pinball Machine. It's been in our family for ever but my Aunt wants to sell it now as it's not functionning and we dont know how (or where) to fix it. Probably an electrical issue that can be fixed rapidly. It's just taking up space in my basement now. Working, they sell for around $4500.00.

well got news for them. its going to sell for less then that.
Yeah well I can see this turning ugly.. The chick's never sold anything on Ebay. She doesn't realize that it's a binding contract. If she says :"NO I won't sell".. What are you going to do??? You'll complain to Ebay and her account will get cancelled but that's no loss to her with a feedback of ZERO.

The right thing to do is send an email and let her know. I have done that with a few folks that state in their list "I won't let this go for less than....", but have no reserve. Seems the proper thing to do rather than let's force the person to sell, because they didn't know the rules.

Duane
That would indeed be the noble thing to do, but from I've heard of this seller, she's seems like an unweilding greedy little (insert word of your choice here), who thinks she's sitting on a Gold mine.
It would be worth letting this duke itself out just for the entertainment value !
i have emailed them more then once. they asured me that it was going to go for over 4k. i told them that its not worth 1k even if it was working. around 500-800 mark at the most working. i got told to more or less "piss off". especially when i mentioned about the picture being stolen from the internet and not their pic. they didnt' seem to care.
I think I'll let them know that their pic has been stolen.
And if that's where they're getting their pricing information from, I could understand why they think that the machine is worth a bundle. Don't tell the seller that pinrescue sells fully restored/collector quality items at retail prices. They just wouldn't understand.
Breach of a contract is NOT a criminal matter... It's a civil litigation and has to be brought in front of the Civil Courts. You would be surprise how many calls we get regarding Ebay f... ups.
The only time we open an investigation is when we can clearly establish mens rea (criminal intentions). Classic scenario is the following:
I bought this item and paid the seller 450$ for it. I never received the said item... I contacted seller which, by the way, lives in Japan and he stated that the item was shipped. I did not take any insurance so there was no tracking on the package.
Translation:
I'm a cheap bastard refused to insure a 450$ purchase and furthermore, asked seller to write this off as a gift of a 20$ value. Now, I think I got an a** reaming so please Mr. Policeman would you help me???
Classic he said she said scenario good for file 13...

Well I reported him. For false picture and shill bidding looks like he is doing that and figured that 450$ was a little to high and nobody would bid so retracted it and added a lesser ammount hmm? Also odds of 2 brand new accounts never used bidding on that one item what are the odds

Has anyone *seen*, or asked to go see that machine, given it is supposed to be in Gatineau ?
It would clarify if this is yet another scam, or someone truly mis-informed.
The shill bidding and stolen pics are not good clues though !!!
Cheers, - Sylvain.

Hey Guys , the first line of the revised description is
"Am 12-Jun-07 hat der Verker die folgenden Angaben hinzugefot;
if it is in Gatineau how come it was not revised on Ebay.ca ??????
BTW i sold mine last year , very cleaned all shopped , had hard time to get $450.00 !!!
Good point, i noticed the same this morning and double-checked i was logged on Ebay.ca...
Anyway, this game doesnt really deserve attention does it ? Like you said, nobody wanted one last year... scamming with an unwanted EM, its new, high end pins scams auctions looks suspicious so now they are using items of lesser value ?
She might still be legit and use a foreign langage on her computer

I say someone opens up bogus ebay accounts and bids the thing up to 4K, just for the entertainment value. If they are shilling and ripping pics, why not post fake bids!
When the time comes to pay for the item, send them a "Nigerian" type letter or claim you thought the currency you were bidding in was the dinar.
The auction is real - I've emailed this clueless bimbo before.. Too stupid to realize she was on the german Ebay site when she did the revision.. She was probably tracking down other pin auctions - this is how she came up with the "it's worth 4500$".. A few months ago she kept sending me emails with links to pin auctions saying :"HERE I TOLD YOU THEY WERE WORTH THAT MUCH".. She was linking to wacko auctions with 0 bids because the prices were so stupid - like a 4000$ Capt Fantastic, etc..
She has no clue that an asking price is not the same as a selling price... I'm 98% sure she will turn out to be a deadbeat seller. And YES I'm 98% sure she's shill bidding, so she doesn't have to sell at a low price.
I guess the only advantage of raising the selling price is that she'll be stuck with higher Ebay fees when her shill bidder wins the auction..
Whatever

No I wouldn't and in fact wonder why they haven't cracked down on Ebay because they are setting the public up for this kind of thing.
Glad to see my tax dollars going to monitoring Ebay's non-existent policing policies.
It's at $61 right now, but has a full day left to make up the extra $4439.00
Now at $237.50 USD for a non-working, non-collectable EM, with shill bidding, stolen pics, and evasive answers.
Wow... Why is *anyone* bidding on this ? I will refrain from commenting.
Hopefully the shill bidder wins

I wonder if this seller is stupid enough to REALLY bid on her own auction... you know, the name of the buyer shows at the end of the auction... it would be hilarious to see her name as the seller AND the winner!!!
It's obvious bidder 6 is her (or a friend). 2 HIGH bids within 15 minutes, both retracted. She was checking how high the previous bidder had gone.. B--CH.

Also she's basing her pricing on the pinrescue machine (which she stole the pic from) as they sold it for $2195
The backglass is VERY nice, the playfield has the usual wear on top (saucer)... I woudl post them here, but they are too big.
supposedly she doesn't care how much it sells for, but I also think that there's major shill bidding....

well another way is to put a really high bid and wait till there is 12hours and 3minutes. then retract that bid. if the seller bump the price up then there is a good chance they would be the next bid under. if 12hours or less is on a auction, you can't retract the bid

This listing (280122036522) has been removed or is no longer available. Please make sure you entered the right item number. If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it cancelled. Note: Listings that have ended more than 90 days ago will no longer appear on eBay.
I wonder what type of email eBay might send the seller, when they cancel the auction due to the shill bidding and stolen pics (when they are flagged by another user)...
Obviously the seller does not believe our experience, guidance and price evaluation ($100-$275 cdn as-is, no more for this machine in this as-is condition), I wonder where this machine will be advertized next, and at what price...
Cheers, - Sylvain.

Great...
Just to stir the pot, I had just sent the seller an eBay mail asking her why she stole the pic and why she was shill bidding, ....and that I was surprised that the auction hadn't been cancelled...
Now she'll think it was ME who had it cancelled !!!!
...and you know what they say about the wrath of a woman scorned ... ugh!
Gee. I was hoping it was going to go through for a ridiculously low price. It would have been great to have been bought for sub $100 by a MAACA guy just to hear the rest of the story.
Ebay is going to do nothing. Time is money and they just want to give the appearance of policing their business to maintain their credibility.
If it's brown and it really stinks it's probably the same thing as what they are writing back to you on.
i too told ebay. sent them the email reply i received from them stating they took the picture off the internet. the email i sent had orginal headers and all. so they could easily see it was them repling. so glad to see others did the same. who's next? whens efairy coming back.
