Hello every one   I am a new to MAACA and have a few questions about shipping a pin from the US. the person I am dealing with prefers to use NAVAL, what do you guys think? and when I called NAVAL they tell me I need a customs broker I live in Toronto can anyone recomend a broker I can call and use? and my last question what is the best way to send money to protect myself as well as to be fair to the seller? I thought of Pay Pal and the seller is ok with it but someone told me I would only be protected if I was making a ebay purchase I am buying this pin from a Mr. pinball ad. and the person is a collector and not a dealer.
I would appericate any advice.
Thanks!!

Navl is the last shipping company you want to use, they are the most expensive-
Using a broker is the most expensive way of clearing your machine through customs, find a shipping company that will let you do that yourself. Forward air will explain to you what to do to clear your machine.
Try to get the individual to drop off the machine at forward air, or some other company-
If you look back this has been covered in previous posts a number of times.

If you're buying from a dealer Forward air will likely be an option, but likely not from an individual, as to ship with Forward Air the machine has to be wrapped and palleted, as well as dropped off at a terminal, and you then have to pick it up at the terminal. NAVL picks up in one piece from the sellers home and delivers right to your door. It is more expensive but far more convenient IMO, especially for an individual. Customs wise Forward Air is better because you can then clear thru customs yourself at the airport, and thats also where you will pay the 13% tax on the declared value. With NAVL you do have to get your own broker as NAVL doesn't have that service, but thats as easy as a phone call ( A and A brokers).

NAVL seems to always get a bad spin on here...I've used them to ship A LOT of machines without incident. If you utilize the 2 for 1 shipping when you're buying, it works out pretty good as far as costs go.

You can use paypal, but pay threw your credit card.  I allways pay with my credit card that way if I ever run into problems and paypal decides that they don't want to help, I call my credit card company and tell them to put a stop on the payment.  Credit card companies are much more willing to help out.
