Thanks Corey - that makes it easier to filter through the posts...

B1 - that would be great -  Hope it sells!!!!

Thanks Hyann,  I'm not sure if that will help or not at this point.  I'd still need to get it to the Toronto/London area.

WOW I have already received 5 emails asking assorted things that involve me being crazy, being mentally unstable (actually used a R word that I dislike) and a couple regarding a lubricant...

Obviously this is why it's called "fishing" for the home user, I don't expect that; What I do expect is a home user to "lowball" me 900-1000 which is still way better than the 500-600 it's worth.

Keep the colour coming

So you are openly admitting that you are trying to dupe some uninformed buyer to pay $900 - $1000 on a machine that you have said is worth $500 - $600

Yea that is going to get you well liked here

Not duping anyone....did I ask you buy it? or did I even post it here originally...

It's worth what someone will pay, I recall when I first got into this ANY working SS pin for 1000 was a deal So I thought, and SO I spent, I am not here to offend you any other members but...
A working pin in this condition IS worth 900-1000 IMO Just not to you guys or I guess "Pin guys" in general ONLY because it is a Gottlieb and pin people don't seem to like Gottlieb

So anyway sorry to offend you or anyone else, but in MY opinion it is worth 900-1000 -I only stated 500-600 because that is it's worth to "pin guys"

So like I said you are trying to dupe an uniformed buyer.

It's not worth that price to us "pin guys" because we are informed about market prices on machines.  So because you are trying to find some uniformed patsy to pay your inflated price you think that's ok because you arn't trying to sell it to a "pin guy'?

I know everyone has the "Man I got hosed on my first pinball purchase story" but do you really wanna be that guy, the guy that if the person you sell that machine to says, "Yea my first machine was a Monte Carlo, this a**hole charged me $700 more then it was worth because I didn't know any better, now that I'm informed I would never have paid that price."

Yea I know that a pinball is worth what someone is willing to pay, but personaly my morals wouldn't let me sleep at night knowing that I duped someone to pay double for a machine just because they didn't know any better.

Pretty good points, but again I don't think in my opinion that it is only worth $500
Who says that it is? there is a guide I guess and I suppose this would fall into that somewhere, What is the guide value?
I don't have one, but would guess 650-700 (and again who sets the guide prices? "pin guys," supply and demand and averages I gues,

It has new rubbers, entirely new set of plastics all the pinrepair ground mods etc were done, play field is in amazing shape and the cab is nice...

It's not like I am selling a POS for $900.00

But hey as I said that is my opinion, and you are certainly entitled to yours.  I guess the best we can do is agree to disagree.

You said it, you the peson selling it, said it was worth that, not me, not the book, YOU.  Who would have a better idea what the machine was worth then YOU.

End of the day, you are going to sell it for whatever you want, you may get your asking price you may not, but your current actions help me form a good opinion on how I should deal or not deal with you in the future......

I agree with Adam...........If your going to come in here and tell people you want to rip other people off do you think any of us in here would want to deal with you.......Don't burn your bridges........there are a lot of people in here with great bridge building Knowledge (of how to fix pinballs) and one of theses people might one day have something to sell you................

You are right IDID;

I was NOT referring to me and this particular case; I was generalizing amongst the pin community as it pertains to any gottlieb that gets no love; I should have made that more clear I guess. And I am sorry for that.  Regardless I have stated several times in MY Opinion $900 for this machine specifically is not a dupe

But alas thats OK opinions vary and thats OK too, and no offense was seriously intended as I stated before I am not here to offend any members, I quite like the forums.

Please remind me that I shouldn't try to "low ball" Adam for BSD, right?

One thing you guys arent taking into account is the standard 'Whatever the asking price is on Kijiji, I shall offer $25-30% less'

Im sure most people put their stuff up on kijiji for about that much more than what they'll take, just so they're both happy at the end of the day when the buyer thinks they haggled, and the seller got about what they originally wanted.

Its just expected on Kijiji.

Uh oh, now that you guys are onto my tactics, im gonna have to jack my stuff up 40-50% now!!

No you can low ball me all day Dan, your one of the good guys

It just drives me insane when people come here to this community which is provided for free from the hard work by JD3, Splitskull and Sparky, where we are all here trying to promote positive things in the hobby and advertise the fact they are going on a "fishing" expedition.  Trying to get more for something then it's acutally worth because someone new to the hobby doesn't know any better.

We've all been there, brand new, wide eye, with money burning a hole in our pocket to get out very first pin.  Does it not sound better to foster a positive introduction into the hobby by giving that newb a fair price on a machine rather then a negative one by getting somone to pay too much.  I just can't fathom the logic of souring someone on the hobby that way, other then persoanl greed.  Me I'd rather see the person get a fair deal, be happy with the purchase, and continue to grow the hobby.

But that's just me.

Blah....more like 50%. Regardless, I usually set a price I am comfortable with and leave it firm. If you have a high price, you might scare away real buyers. The "lookie loos" will still throw you a low ball offer, but I'm quite happy to tell them no. I love the email I got from one guy telling me my price was too high and they sold for much less on eBay all the time. I then sent him a list of completed auctions where the prices were all more than mine   Wonder why I didn't hear back from him? !

OK again (and for the last time) I think $900 is fair, my opinion. I may or may not get that, fair enough.  I am not new here and have had many dealings with lots of members here in the past. I do believe that all parties were happy with the outcome. I generally don't "Dupe" or "Rip OFF" people. and actually take offense to that. I do know many members here  personally  that try and get the best dollar they can. They just don't advertise that fact. Oh my god am the worse person ever to sell a pin, I think not.

I am all for helping people the best I can when I can, this whole debate was started because I replied to a post FOR help. And seriously if my "greed" causes so much distress  for that I am sorry.  TZ makes a good point about setting a price he is cool with. I will go adjust my ad. and decline offers below 900

I do certainly get the impression though that I have already been tarred and feathered, fairly or un-fairly... for 1. trying to offer help to a member, and 2. being HONEST fully explaining my intentions and explaining my train of thought.

one last time; I am sorry to cause so much grief on Wednesday afternoon.     enough said on my part.

I don't think you have anything to appologize for, if anything you've kept me entertained for most of the day rather then having to do actual work.

I have no real concept on what this machine is actually worth so I can't even comment on that, I was basing my argument of yor original statments.  Those being that you were "fishing" for a buyer, that you were asking $1200 to get $900 and that the machine was only actually worth $500 - $600.  But if you think the machine is worth $900 and that is a fair price then fair enough.

My intention wasn't to tar and feather, more to point out that "fishing" isn't exactly exactly a smiled apon pratice.  But if you are saying that the machine is worth $900 then so be it.
