Speech in old pins is something that I have always adored. I love the speech on the old Williams machines, but I just came across this and gotta say that it's some of the coolest vintage pin speech I've ever heard. This just drips with coolness.

I love the sounds/speech on old pins too...

I gotta admit Centaur is pretty cool on that side, forget about the pinmame version, it sounds much better on the real game, cool stuff...

"Slow arent you..."

Early Ballys : Flash Gordon, Electra, Centaur, etc.. all have cool speech. Also, Flash Gordon has the best spinner sound ever

I wonder where you heard Centaur...

FG spinner is cool...especially when you have it lit for extra points... then the sound pitch escalates!  I find Alien Poker to be close. I used to just shoot the spinner at full blast to hear it go nuts!

There was a little voice in my head over weekend... "Centaur...Digital Camera...Centaur... Digital Camera..."

I had to pinch myself to make an educated choice

Not that I know of... it is still in my office.

Is OK... I will be fixing the head on it soon, and eventually shopping it out bigtime. Price will change then.

I was always partial to Xenon,

... but I suspect that was the angst-filled testosterone-laden hormonal teenage virgin in me
everytime I heard that female voice moan...

...ahh those were the days...

Xenon is revolutionary for speech. It was the first pin that used a woman's voice, and on top of that it was also the first using a sound specialist, being Suzanne Ciani. She was (still is) a genius and a pioneer in the sound engineerign business and even invented her own equipment to do so. I know there is a video on Youtube about her work. It was posted here a while back.

I gave a cool speech in high-school once... It was on how to give a cool speech.
As you may have guessed I waited till the last minute to work on it and had no time to properly research a topic.
I got an "A" though.

Viva Procrastination !!

What does this have to do with pinball you ask... Well, absolutely nothing but I've never let that stop me before have I.

Adam
