Seems any machines that are fun to play and not easily boring everyone wants $3000+ for.  Others that are around $2000 look like they will not have a lot of staying power if you want to play them for long time.

Now you're "getting it"..

A few games below that 3K mark are good players.  Shadow, STTNG are a few that come to mind.

Not all expensive games are good playing games if they're the only machine or part of a small collection..  TOTAN, TOM come to mind as games that get boring quick if it's all you have.

I wonder where you all get your "book" value information??  I have searched through classifieds on Mr Pinball and on the internet.  Seems that a DE Star Wars currently sells for anywhere from $1800 - $2650.  So how is $2295 including shipping Way Too Much??  Consider that shipping is usually $400, I am only really paying $1900 and the machine has been shopped and is in great condition.

As others have mentioned "book" value comes mainly from the annual Mr. Pinball price guide.  It is just a guide and prices vary depending on time of year, location and condition of the machine.  You said the deal you were considering was $2295 + $100 shipping so that's $2395.  If you are interested I'd be more than happy to sell mine for $1900.  Shipping from Ottawa to Calgary would probably be in the $250 range so that's $2150 shipped and the machine is in great shape.  I just saved you $245

There are lots of good playing pins between $1600-$2200. Beyond $2200 you are starting to get into pins that collectors for one reason or anouther decided to collect. It doesn't mean the other ones are bad games unless your talking Star Wars but then again you keep pressing on with this title so don't be disappointed. I think you have been well advised.

Good luck with your Star Wars.

Now buy something will ya!

Yeah, there are NO fun games out there for less than $1600. They're all garbage.

Point taken. I was thinking more modern DE and WPC.

Yes there are many games under $1600 that are very nice as well, but I will say with the older stuff you may have to be more selective to find a winner. Trying to do more with less (computing power) was a challenge.

Well if yours has been completely shopped with no damage to the playfield and all items working including the death star and R2D2's head rotating sound like a decent deal to me.  If the machine has not been recently shopped and is not in perfect condition I would prefer to pay more for a better machine.

In any case, I am waiting for jvegas to send me pics, descriptions of the two machines I am in line for with him.  I am AXIOUSLY awaiting... OK I am getting DAMN impatient and hope that this waiting will result in some really well detailed and close up pics/descriptions.
