Saw this on R.G.P.  Hmmm, I think I need this, Very Very cool!!

"Well, I sort of mentioned this before, and people wanted to know how
it turned out, so...here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK-_wBAMiVQ Part 1. This shows a
game being put on the lift, and the lift going down. It takes about 30
seconds for the game to reach the basement (9 feet drop).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ekiLykpDQ This shows the
elevator from the basement. Game comes down. Ooooooo....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5m1vn1_1hs Part 3. This is a short
clip of the game coming up. Fascinating."

Very often when you copy and paste links, it adds a space on the end and includes it in the link, thus making it broken, Always try putting your cursor near or at the end of a link and seeing if there is a space at the end that can be deleted.

Regarding this elevator...
To have one like this one, this guy really need to have space and $$, should cost a lot of money, IMHO it's the price of 1 pin, so I would better like to have another pin instead of this elevator.

BUT, if you don't have any other access to the basement ( or any other place where you want to put pinballs ), this is a wonderfull idea...!

Kinda neat..  But it seems pretty unsafe to me..  Unless the elevator is full up, you have a big gaping hole in the floor..  As someone on RGP mentioned, it's most likely a building code violation..

If you fall into your own hole... I believe it's called natural selection.

Cheap to build. Most expensive portion is the winch and it doesn't require a very powerful one.

I wonder if my wife would be concerned about the hole in the ceramic floor in the laundry room?.... Nah, I won't even bother asking her.

The unsafe part to me is what could happen to a pin if the winch broke. I would like to see a brake mechanism incorporated as well.

Here's an solution that not only meets building and (pin) safety codes but will make the wife happy.

There is a TOPL member who has set up something like this.  Its a winch that raises and lowers the games between floors.  There is no bottom, the game is just attached with various straps and needs a bit of guidance going up and down.  I am sure he has done many without any problems.  A few of my current games were hoisted out of his basement that way with no problems.

A very interesting project that saves your back (and your stairs).

Probably not for your average collector.  But I don't think "Pins Only" falls in that category.

THANK GOD!!! I thought I was the only one that noticed the door right in front of a huge hole in the floor!!! No safety gate... no auto-lock on the floor... and what I believe is no bracing for the floor, nor any structural reinforcement for the upstairs floor. There should be a bulkhead in front of the elevator in the basement due to him most certainly cutting one floorbeam to make way for the elevator... I have a design for an elevator, but at least it blocks the hole with a top plate once the elevator is lowered...

Retiring soon...
