The original Mongol is on the far right of the first two pics.  You can see the difference in the flesh tones (the only problem, really).

I've sealed the paint on my repros with two coats of clear enamel, something Williams neglected to do on the originals.

Nice - wondering what you do for the moulds.   A collegue uses smooth-on and I was close to trying to do a Diner clock mould as the clock is often cracked at the motor-mounting point.    

Tuborg:  Yup, Smooth-on products are what I'm using as well.

Unless someone had an original and a duplicate side by side, you'd never notice the colour differences.

Colour differences are very common anyway...Recently I paid top buck for pop bumper caps for Black Hole from Steve Young.  The repro ones were several colour values lighter than the originals (and the surrounding pop bumper material).

Do I care?  No!  I'm just glad I don't have to put up with several smashed pop bumper caps.  Having something that is similar, is far preferable to having nothing at all.

If the colours are slightly off mention it and sell complete sets for the A-retentive.

do you use a foam process to do your moldings??

I used to make custom action figures,  and would love to know the process so I could make some extra parts.

Again, another big pat on the back for Brock! This was something I contemplated doing when I had my Shadow because I was missing a mongol figure, but I don't have the skill to make them.

Thanks, Grau!  I hear they were in demand, and I like a challenge.  Hell, it took me 6 months to figure it out.  They're still a little tricky to make.. I have to keep the air bubbles out.  I wasted quite a few batches trying to figure out my method.  All in all, a set of three takes a few hours to make by hand.

However, I'm pretty confident that I can cast many other parts using the same methods, so suggestions are always welcome.. and l like CPR, I'll offer a free set to anyone who offers up a donor part (the original of course will be returned safe and sound as well).

I'm on a quest to learn how to make molds and do some vacuum forming, I know there are some parts in demand that can be easily formed a on a simple vac table, it's just a matter of doing a bunch of reading and finding the time to build the gear I need.
