I was setting up Johnny Mnemonic today and I saw four T-nuts in the bottom of the cabinet where the cash box would be inside. The cash box actually covers the holes. My question is. Does anyone know what these are for? I looked under Corvette and No Fear and they have them too. Weird eh? Just curious.

Thanks,
Geoff

Maybe they are just Montreal gangsta bullet holes , after all it was the mob hotspot for years. . I see the Laniel stamp, I have a machine that was from there too.

Almost all my games came from there, that was the best distributor ever. Too bad they closed, they should have sold instead.

Could it have been for fitting an after-market lockable cashbox with a different key ?
(e.g. usual cashdoor key for the location owner and maintenance tech;
separate key for cashbox to access the money).

Cheers,
- Sylvain.

I am talking about Laniel Automatic not Laniel Canada and yes Laniel Canada is still in business. They went different ways  years ago. I am an operator and I have been dealing with Distributors since the 80's.

It doesn't really matter if I get the answer, I was just curious. I have opened over 50 games NIB and I don't know why they are there.

Chances are it is something for assembly, or possibly something generic. Heep in mind that until the decals went on the cabs, Williams cabs are generic, so that modification is probably done to the bottom panel even before it is assembled into a cabinet. It is possible that it is for a specific assembly that is not used on all cabs, or not used in cabs in a specific market.

We see that in heavy machinery a lot...
