Well, I've just bought my 5th camera in 6 years !
(...pretty sad I know, but these thing just break so damn easily )
I'm not not talking junk here, I have Sony's, Canon's, etc...
Here is what I have:
Sony CyberShot DSC-P43 (4.1 MP) [circa 2004]:
Works, but sometimes the lens lighting just goes wonky,
and all the pics turn out very dark. No rhyme or reason....
It can work well for 100 shots, and then just crap out.
There appears to be nothing I can do to make it work consistently
Sony Cybershot DSC-P100 (5.1 MP Carl Zeiss lens) [circa 2006 : Paid $600 ! ]
Works, but focus sometimes goes wonky (...noticing a theme here... ? ).
Had the camera sent for repair TWICE, but it's still screwed-up.
Sony denies any problems, but they "clearly" saw the fuzzy pics.
Canon PowerShot SD1000 (Elph) (7.1 MP) [circa 2008]
Works, but lens-cover mechanism broke off (so lens is always exposed)
and zoom does not work. Also, photo review does not work
(ie. can not see picture you just took ). Other than that, pics are OK

(..it's what I was using until I bought a new one yesterday... )
I also have a couple of point-and-shoot film cameras, which work fine (...note the irony there...)
but are probably completely worthless.
I've looked into recycling programs, but only the rechargeable batteries are wanted,
and the rest is sold for scrap and paid by weight to dispose of...
So does anyone want these... ?
I'll GIVE the cameras for FREE if anyone wants them,
but I'd have to charge a token fee for the various 2G memory cards.
(memory stick for Sony, SD for Canon )
LMK,
Thanks,
Steph
