Since I got no suggestions, I took out the oscilloscope last night and traced the issue back to the power board. The circuit seems to work properly when it is not plugged into the primary of the transformer, 12V appears and shut off at the proper times. But with the scope I can see that the voltage drops significantly when plugged into the primary of the transformer, so that is why the neon will not light. It must be the ULN2003A driver on the power board. Will have to order some today and hopefully that is the end of this issue. There will be no sale to Necro.
I will not need a new neon afterall, mine current one turns out to be green in color. |
