I have an opportunity to purchase a MM but the owner doesn't want to part with it until later this summer. CP sold much quicker than anticipated so now a slightly neurotic ADD has an open space and some cash to spend. Two months seems like a long time from now. Is MM worth waiting for and spending a couple grand more or should I consider other options (like TSPP or anything else that may be available now)?

Ask yourself, for the same price today, would you hunt for one or would you rather hunt for something else ?

I dont knoww how much the local guy is asking but if there was a decent one local, decently priced i would certainly grab it, at least just for a few months to make up my own mind then sell it later on (considering you didnt overpay).

Here's my advice, secure you spot with the guy TODAY, and also, buy something else TODAY In two months chances that you are already bored of your new purchase are high, buy yourself a new toy meanwhile, thats what i would do. Buy the MM as soon as it gets available and play it a bit to make sure you want to sell another game to keep it.. or simply call me i will pick it up

Good luck

I think MM is worth waiting two months for, as long as the price is reasonable (for a MM that is...).  Having said that, TSPP is a great game that will keep you challenged for a long time; you will probably never beat it, making it at the same time very frustrating.
The advantage with MM is that if you end up not liking it, you probably will be able to sell it very quickly as they don't come up often locally for sale and are much sought after.  I would personally would go with the MM as you could always pick up a TSPP later if you wish.  A local MM for sale is very rare....

I'd wait for MM, just because I found it more fun than TSPP. Whether or not it's worth the extra $$, I dunno.

MM's are next to impossible to find, at least for me. If it's for a price that isn't completely obsene, I'd jump on it, and think about whether I want to keep it or not after it's already in my house.

i think TSPP is a better game than MM, but nice TSPP's are everywhere. hell, stern is still manufacturing them.

I do recommend playing both (more than once) before committing.  I certainly had two very different experiences when playing MM and TSPP and it changed my "perception" of one of them considerably.  Your mileage may vary.  How's that for being ambiguous enough not to be biased.

I own both and never expected to like TSPP (never watched Simpsons ever!) but bought it due to the variety and uniqueness of shots and the humour that can be enjoyed even without knowing the Simpsons. That said, my MM is my favourite DMD and will never leave despite many offers on it so buy the MM if decent price as another local one coming up is extrememly unlikely and if you don't love it - you can sell it easily. TSPP in nice to great condition are easily found if willing to travel, MM are not -  even in the US.

If you can get MM for a fair price grab it.

TSPP's come up often. Doubt anyone will ever miss the boat on a TSPP if they are willing to pay a fair price. Not only that as Stern themselves state a high percentage go to HUO so even HUO should not be problematic.

High end pins don't always sell quick.  Not everybody has that kind of cash lying dormant in the "entertainement" fund..

Normally I'm the Stern supporter, but I have to agree with majority. MM in decent shape are very tough to come by. If it's in nice shape and priced fairly, I would wait and grab it. You won't regret it and, again if priced fairly given condition, you should be able to sell or trade it if you don't like it.
