Give them a break. At least we have this system, too long coming. Don't forget that companies have the same problem. Microsoft Live crashed last Chirstmas, for weeks! Apple's Itunes crashed during the iphone 3G launch, preventing people from activating their phones! People lined up all night, and they weren't allowed to buy the phone until it was activated, it was a nightmare. Various stock market websites crashed yesterday morning due to the volume of trading.
This is the nature of the internet. It's not feasible to spend millions on a server farm that will only be maxed out for 1 day, and lay idle for the rest of its life. There are ways around this though, like renting additional servers, but no one thinks they'll actually need them. |
