yeah but do you think anyone would be stupid enough to go for that starting price??
I guess time will tell but I wouldn't hold my breath if I was the seller

You know I dont understand why this site allows two persons in question to be valid members still. Both members are borderline scammers/bullshitters/pinnutt73'ers.
I truely dislike that they are still allowed to post and read this forum when the other 98% of the members here are normal people.

As long as people here deal with these 2 guys (some still do) then they have a valid reason to be here I guess...
I wouldn't put them in the 'scammer' category as they are selling REAL machines but they both are in a league of their own when it comes to GREED... I guess the best thing is to avoid them if you don't agree with their practises and try to get the deals before THEY do.
Not to defend them but they're in it for the money and I don't believe they've ever said anything to the contrary. Everyone knows who they are - and what goes around comes around

Well I have to side with gory I have no ideas what started this today?
Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.
Nothing got deleted. You're supposed to click on PROFIT.. That's a link to what we're talking about.

My dad used to say that it's not a sin to profit. The real sin, he said, was *not* to profit.
Silly me....
How foolish was I to think that Pat would only want $1000 more than he paid for it. $3000... now that's more like it ! (...and don't forget the CDN to US conversion here either.. )
And I "especially" like the auction description that says "out of my personal collection and I'm willing to part with it now ".
Pat, newsflash, you picked-up the game and drove it to Geoff's house where he's been fixing it for you for the last month.
How many games have you actually "played" since it's been in your personal collection ? 5 ?
He bought it, thus he can do whatever he wants with it...
It's not like nobody had their chance to buy it...
In this 'hobby', there are all kinds of people...some (or many) of you may not agree on some people's "practices", but then again, it's a free country...
There's a difference between a 'used car salesman' and a 'thief'...although many people confuse both of them.
The machine is real, so if you're willing to pay a very high premium (not me!), then buy it or offer him a lower price...the worse he can say is 'NO'!
Mes deux cennes,
Frosken
P.S.: I don't agree with the 'practice' either, but the seller's doing nothing wrong.
Current 'working' lineup: ( 2 ) Flipper Football, The Shadow
Gone but not forgotten: ( 22 ) City Slicker, Dirty Harry, CFTBL, Big Shot, Big Guns, Black Rose, Judge Dredd, Indianapolis 500, Big Game, BS: Dracula x 2, Beat the Clock, Fire!, F-14 Tomcat, Getaway, Breakshot, Cheetah, Meteor, El Dorado, Nitro Ground Shaker, Chexx Hockey, Slugfest
I'm with you frosken. I understand Steph being upset, he thought he had a deal to buy this machine and feels he was screwed out of it. He's also a Williams guy and I think he really wanted to add it to his collection.
But Pat bought it, had it fixed and now is selling it for a crazy price. He may even get it, but I seriously doubt it. It won't be bought by a maaca member, we all know what he paid for it but it may be worth that much to someone.
I remember when I first got into this hobby and I was trying to figure out prices for different machines. The best answer I ever got was "how much is it worth to you?". Well, that's a question really but still.
It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it and that should not offend anyone. Especially people who continue to claim this game is a piece of junk and they would never, ever own one.
What is the upset?, he didn't even sell it (0 Bids) at that price yet. Hey, someone sometimes does more research on a machine he didn't know much about and realizes that it is worth a few $k. I personally try not to care what others make on a machine, but as most of you, concentrate on what I make on a sale (or in my case what I always mostly lose on one). It is sometimes frustrating to see that high price because all of us would like to earn that much profit on one machine (flipping a Pin as most of us call it).... Nice item in anyone's collection for sure.
Vids: Crystal Castles, Gauntlet/Gauntlet II, Donkey Kong Jr., Ms. Pac-Man, Vs. Super Mario Bros. (other Vids in storage - for now) Pins:White Water [WH2O]
Scammers? no, I'm sorry, that's woefully inaccurate, even if it was loosely used.
From what I understand, Pinutts sends pictures of machines he doesn't even posess. I've never dealt with him.
Fact: I've purchased about 10 machines collectively from Pat and Rick over 5 years, and never, has either of them sent me a picture of something they didn't actually own, or have access to.
Fact: I've never paid for an item I haven't received from Pat, or Rick, and both have at least on 1 occasion transported an item for me inexpensively, or sometimes no charge.
Fact: I've played the Joust machine for sale when I picked up my Fun Fest machine.
I just hope we can continue to be cautious, using the term "scammer" in a private sales forum is like yelling "fire" at a gas station as we all know.
Why believe me? because I'm a first class lunatic with nothing to lose, and nobody to impress, who else would be stupid enough to spend 2 days scraping off a Stargate cabinet and host a webpage that looks like a grade 4 project.
I must agree with Frosken as well. Pat bought a game cheap, and wants to turn it over for a large profit... his prerogative.
As for what Mark stated, yes, I could delete his account, but then again, do I delete my own account for buying an Evel knievel for 50$, invest 300$ in parts including an overlay, and sell it for 650$? Nevermind the 80+ hours I put on it, but still...
Back to the original mission and rules for MAACA... we will delete anyone who engages in fraudulent activity. What he did was not fraud. So I refuse to delete him.
And as for deleting other accounts, unless I have ironclad proof of fraud, I can't delete the person's account by simple ethics. THIS is why I strongly encourage people to send me any proof of fraudulent activity. Mind you, I get about 100 PMs a week so it takes me time to sift through it all.
...and another thing that annoys me a bit... if some are SO eager to point the finger to a member, and to name the members, put up facts... don't hide behind supposition. Put your facts up.

I have to agree here as well. There is ONE HELL OF A DIFFERENCE between opportunism and fraud. And it is WAY TOO EASY to call someone a scammer.
Beware of using that word too easily guys... because soon enough even the good sellers will sell their stuff elsewhere by fear of backlash over simple opinions.
Guys, here is a rule of thumb I have said many times before... you don't like the price or the description given? Don't look at it and move on. Period. Simple as that. Save yourself the frustration.

I also agree with sparky. They purchased it. It is there machine they can do with it as they want. Look on mrpinball people try to sell machine worth 1000$ they try to get 2000$ Same for ebay we see it some of us do it. What i try to do is contact the person and say it is a little high not make a public bash fest out of it. I have dealt with Pat & Rick allot and they have there reasons. 90% of the time they dont bother with Maaca because they dont want to deal with the crap. I completely understand and I keep saying that it worth it and works out in the end. But if there thinking like that how many others think that also? But to be serious I love maaca it a great place for chat and learn new stuff. I have also pissed some people off in the past and don't give a crap either we all have our opinion and we are all entitled to them but some are best not public.

I don't begrudge Pat for selling the pin for whatever price he wants (..If I could make $3000 profit, I'd do it in a heartbeat too ! ).
There is nothing dishonest or scam-like about his sale.
My only beef is that him and I got into a price war for this game that played right into the [scumbag] seller's hands, knowing full well he was only looking to make a quick buck flipping it, whereas I really did want it for my "personal collection"...
My frustration comes from "having" a deal with the seller, only to see it broken off because Pat offered more money. ( It's not Pat's fault that the seller was a two-timing liar )
I've never even remotely suggested that Pat was in any way dishonest (...not even close ! ), but it's clear that his motives in this hobby are quite different from the majority of us. (...and there's nothing wrong with that, but for me, it certainly changes how I would do business [or not] with him )
OK! LETS MAKE THIS CLEAR! FIRST THE REASON WHY I DONT USE MAACA IS JUST FOR THAT! ITS LIKE A SOAP OPERA IN HERE!
